the way it works in this country under the checks and balances in our Constitution that Commander still gets told if he can deploy assets, and how much money he gets to spend on those assets. What part of Commander in Chief do you folks not get?![]()
I think we’re about to strike fellas……. I’m not sure how I feel about it…. On one hand I think maybe the US should mind its own business…. On the other … I’ve seen them burning us in effigy, chanting death to the great Satan, carrying out a proxy war with roadside IEDs, sponsoring terrorism, murdering their own civilians and etc. and I think they should be smashed into a greasy spot.
Actually that's probably the only thing I agreed with. When he bombed that guy from the US that joined the terrorist group. it was bad when Obama took unilateral military action, its bad when Trump does it. I am sure you were defending all of Obama's strikes as the Commander.
Geez, what parts of the Constitution do you actually agree with?Actually that's probably the only thing I agreed with. When he bombed that guy from the US that joined the terrorist group. Isupported it. If your an American citizen and you join with a foreign terrorist group your rights as an American citizen are null and void. IMO
Now his changing the rules of engagement for the boots on the ground eventually led to us losing the fight in Afghanistan and Iraq is something I'll forever believe cost us from finishing what was started.
Hilarious. If we go to war with Iran, a real war, it's very possible if not very likely that we'll lose at least one carrier and many if not most of the sailors on it. But sadly Trump's ego and the fanaticism of Christian Zionists make it to where a majority of Americans would gladly sacrifice a whole carrier of American personnel on the altar of Bibi Netanyahu and his combover (created in the image of God's combover, of course).

Starmer said unwilling to grant US permission to use UK military bases in Iran strike
British PM reportedly worried about violations of international law, likely prompting Trump's public about-face on UK plan to hand over sovereignty of key Diego Garcia basewww.timesofisrael.com
First less than cooperative, possibly former, ally doesnt join with us against iran.
I think it will very easy to get our troops in and progressively more expensive to pay our former allies to get them supplies and equip once they're vulnerable. The white folk really know how to stick it to you which is why it's better to have them as allies.I thought we really didn't need access to any bases in Europe and the UK?
You really can't expect there to be no repercussions for how Trump and his entire administration have treated the UK and EU over the last year, can you?

lets play the hypothetical out. lets say we do drop NATO/the EU and all that.Being an "ally" is not the one way street that you and the administration believes it to be.
Yet again, you all don't seem to understand how important forward staged assets, and friendly air space/ports of call, are in projecting force on the other side of the world.

what do we need the forward staging bases for in Europe for? If we aren't in Europe, there is no need to fight Russia, in Europe. so we wouldn't need the bases.
my preference on alliances would be if we dropped NATO as an alliance we would pick up a couple individual alliances with a couple nations we are actually aligned with. Trying to fit most of Europe under one umbrella was trying to do too much.
why are we operating across the whole world if we aren't protecting European interests? How do you get ammunition from the US to bases in the Middle East or Israel in a timely manner without using forward prepared stores?
How do you reload ballistic missiles on destroyers of you don't have access to facilities in Rota Spain? Since it's the only port with facilities to do so outside of the US and we no longer attempt to he endeavor whil underway?
Where do you send injured soldiers for long term stabilization without access to Ramstein or some other EU base?
How do you refuel an entire carrier group, on their without friendly ports in the EU willing to refuel US ships?
Honestly it's insane how many of you believe that US forces can operate around the world without access to staged resources and logistics support from friendly ports.
why are we operating across the whole world if we aren't protecting European interests?
its insane how you believe we NEED to be at the same war footing we have been. I have news for you, the reason we aren't the socialist paradise you want us to be, is largely because of the war footing our military has us.
we pull our military back and stop invading and bombing any place with oil because Trump was coming off a big night at the local Taco Bell and wants to blow up more than his toilet, and we don't need to project force as much. what if we have fewer troops deployed, everywhere. fewer injuries and deaths to our troops, fewer missiles - also when was the last time we reloaded a BALLISTIC missile?
I will let you in on a secret. nations were patrolling the oceans LONG before NATO existed and we had a bases at every grid square on the map. we will figure it out just fine, we still have plenty of our own bases places, and as I said we would replace one big alliance with local alliances that actually work for both parties.
I am pretty sure without Trump as president we could convince, $$$, the Maldives to let us maintain control of Diego.
In regards to China, it's why the US has been rebuilding defunct/abandoned airstrips all across the Pacific. The biggest is at Tinian at the end of WWII it was one of the largest air bases in the world. It was where both the Enola Gay & Bockscar took off with the atomic bombs. It had three huge runways for the B29s that have been overgrown with jungle from the last 80 years. The last 3 years or so USAF RedThose bases in the EU aren't just there for the benefit of the EU, that's what everyone has been trying to tell you all since you started crying about NATO countries not paying enough for defense.
If you want to project force all the way around the world, then you have to have a logistics system capable of supplying your military, and those bases, and ports that we have access to are integral to being able to do so.
Cruise missiles, not ballistic, I mispoke, and we do it all the time. Rota is the largest NATO munitions and fuel depot in Europe.
Even if you stop "bombing for oil" then you still have to have forward logistics for a viable deterrent for countries like Russia or China, unless it's your plan to go full isolationist and pull back all USN forces to operating in or near US territorial waters.

Horse units and USN Seabees have been restoring the runways.

The UK and EU will soon be embroiled in civil war. The uncontrolled, forced immigration will cause this. The idiocy of trying to force the merger of two incompatible ways of life will explode. One has to dominate the other. All future plans have to include a situation where our "allies" won't help. Dark times are ahead.I thought we really didn't need access to any bases in Europe and the UK?
