That is fair. The think the speaker may have included Lebanon to apply pressure to Israel, same as I think Israeli pressure (by virtue of their commitment to act) got us involved.

I doubt Israel would have agreed to cease fire with Lebanon, for no other reason than that doesn’t sound to me like what they would do.

FTR, I stated at the outset of this that I thought Rubio’s take was legit: Israel was gonna attack, so we joined because we knew Iran would start lobbing missles at everyone, and that would endanger Americans in the region. So, we tried to get ahead of it.

That said, theee is no way anyone actually believes we agreed to the Iranian 10 point plan.

Enriched uranium? Nah.
US military withdrawal from the Middle East?Nah.
End of Sanctions? Nah.
Iranian control of Hormuz? Nah.

Only the unserious believe this stuff.

Agreed. He did.

“A starting point.” That doesn’t mean we agreed to them. Trump also said Iran agreed to many of the provisions of the US 15 point plan. Am I to believe that, too? Because an Iranian spokesman at one point declared the proposal was “not acceptable in any way.”

Some call it the “language of the Art of the Deal.
Others call it the “language of ordering a TACO.

I will take it as a “starting point.”

He also said almost all the points had been agreed upon. Him saying those two things are certainly the reason people are talking about the plan

Regardless I don’t think it was ever serious because there’s zero chance it’d work out that way. It would be a disaster for the US if this is what happens

There seems to be two 10-point plans. One the media got with Iran probably knowing exactly what they are doing with it. Propaganda 101 that Iran has been doing forever. The other is what seems to be discussed between the parties.

That feels like what happened per the conflicting reports and Leavitt’s press conference.

If it did, I don’t know why the Admin doesn’t release the plan they were presented. Unless, of course, the plan was so conciliatory to the US and the West that whomever proposed it was afraid of being unalived by others in the government. Which, of course, begs the question, “Who are we dealing with and what authority do they have?” We have to be pretty far down the bench now. Far enough that some hardline AA squad members likely see a quick path to the big leagues.

We obliterated the Iranian people. No, wait we didn’t. Iran opened the Strait, except they didn’t. Israel and the US are perfectly aligned on goals for a potential peace plan, except for the areas where they are not. Lebanon and Iran are now the same country, I think.

@MAD hasn’t been seen since his expression of disgust on Sunday, and regardless of whether I agree or disagree with him on issues in the politics thread (and there have been both), I miss the ole’ guy, especially in the baseball forum.

This is what I read from her:

"So let me be clear and correct the record," Leavitt said. "The Iranians originally put forward a 10-point plan that was fundamentally unserious, unacceptable and completely discarded. It was literally thrown in the garbage by President Trump and his negotiating team," Leavitt said.

"Many outlets in this room have falsely reported on that plan as being acceptable to the United States. And that is false," she added.

Leavitt said negotiations with Iran are taking place behind closed doors, and she did not offer details about the version of the agreement that Trump described as "workable" prior to the Tuesday night truce.

Sadly. Don’t know if it was self imposed or if PJ nuked him for Mad having the temerity to call him out for perceived heavy-handed was in moderating, but he hasn’t been around in a minute. Ole fella needed to take a breath. He isn’t the first to need it around here. I hope it was voluntary and I hope it treats him well.
