Iran

Predictable liberal response. The left got played into wanting Trump to bomb Iran, that they are upset that Iran is going to kiss the ring and not get blown up.

Trump set a specific criteria of opening the strait, or we bomb. Is the strait open ?

Look, don't misunderstand. I hope it de escalates and a soultion found in the next two weeks. But at this moment in time, Trump appears to have backed down on his threats short of the mark he set.

Good catch. Except I explicitly cited chatgpt.

If you want to perpetuate a narrow losing argument while the world burns knock yourself out.
The world burns?????
You funny man.

But I am sorry. I shouldn’t have been so rude to you.

The main thing to consider is that the world energy situation today is a lot different from the 1970s. Then we were horribly dependent on foreign oil; especially from the Middle East.
Today, thanks to policies of leaders like Trump; the US is basically self sufficient in terms of energy (no thanks to the democrat climate grifters). Prices have temporarily spiked; but it is due more to speculation than actual supply issues. Well; except for Europe and China of course. Yet another reason why Europe’s refusal to get involved in protecting their own supply is frankly incomprehensible.

Politicians spent 4 years trying to get Trump out of office and now that he’s threatening to destroy an entire civilization not a peep
That’s democracy.
And history.
Civilizations are born. Civilizations disappear. Ours will one day too.
But the Persians are in no danger of this happening at the present.
Did you note that Trump said “God bless the Iranian people”?
People don’t normally bless those they are about to annihilate
Of course, Alexander the Great came awfully close to destroying Persian civilization 2300 years ago.

If this were a Dem. in the WH, they'd be making statements of how much restraint was being displayed and his compassion towards the people of Iran by not ordering strikes.

The whatchaboutism is noted.

In the end, the country with little leverage, no leader, and a limited remaining military extracted a payment in perpetuity and at least an intermediate term risk premium for its most valuable asset (oil)...

That 10 point proposal being lauded as a starting point for negotiations is a doozy.

It is going to be interesting to watch Trump supporters twist themselves into a pretzel in an attempt to spin it as stronger than Obama or Biden's deals with Iran (which it categorically is not). There's stuff in that proposal about reparations for Iran and removal of US military assets in the Middle East, as well as recognition of Iran's right to enrich uranium. 👀

Maybe they can work something out, but this plan mentioned tonight seems like a non-starter.
