It's exhausting to watch the discourse on here collapse every single position into an idiotic binary. ALWAYS mindlessly cheering for the RED or BLUE team (hint: different side same coin).

Nevertheless, in this example, MAD appears to be saying that any critique of THE STATE of Israel is essentially just a 21st-century version of medieval blood "libel(s)". This is a logical fallacy. It’s the kind of thinking that insists that the Israeli State, (which is, by definition an impersonal, bureaucratic apparatus with a strong military and expansionist aspirations) is somehow synonymous with a People/ethnoreligous group (who are, human beings with internal lives and varying opinions on things like public policy and ethics).
I live in Greater NYC ,which as everyone knows has the largest Jewish population outside of Tel Aviv. I count many, both secular and religious, as friends and colleagues. Hell, some years ago, I served as a pallbearer for a dear friend and member of the Tribe.
In my conversations, my friends believe that the actions of the State of Israel have been abhorrent in Gaza, and at present. BUT, if we follow MAD'S logic to its conclusion, we arrive at a reality where a Jewish person who disagrees with the current Israeli administration is somehow... an anti-Semite?--a self-hating Jew? Sadly MAD'S "arguement" removes all internal moral agency of these individuals.
I think what MAD is doing is termed semantic shutdown. MAD is framing political critique as "racist hate" or "unhinged... obsession," But, in my reading, MAD never seems to engage in the content of an argument and often relies on ad hominem attacks. MAD and others continue to conflate the STATE Of ISRAEL with a historically persecuted ethnoreligous group ---in an attempt to create a scenario where the STATE of ISRAEL's actions are beyond criticism.
MAD is essentially characterizing this criticism as a hate crime (to me this sounds sorta libtarded...or just a different flavor of woke... no?).
And now we can't have a civilized discussion--because, most likely, by engaging with
MAD/ricberry31, this somehow makes one a "Jew hater."
