Iran

no boots on the ground just became boots on the ground.

if you think Iran isn't going to fight to keep their islands you are in for a rude awakening in 20 years when you finally wake up to this being another Afghanistan.
Don't understand the end game here unless it's to apply pressure to strike a more favorable deal. Marines can certainly take that island, but what happens once they take it? I have a feeling they will be targeted relentlessly by rockets missiles and drones. It will become a war of attrition and many Marines will die.

The oil companies aren't going to invest billions in a losing proposition. They've played this out before and the rug always gets pulled out from under them.

And that was before trump came along... who is reliable only in being shameless, self-serving and amoral.
They have not been permitted to so so until today:

US authorizes transactions with Venezuela’s oil company

According to Reuters:
Many small producers and investors, however, are looking for early deals that could secure profits, while PDVSA's traditional partners, including Chevron, Shell (SHEL.L), opens new tab, Repsol (REP.MC), opens new tab, Eni (ENI.MI), opens new tab and BP (BP.L), opens new tab are seeking project reactivation or expansions.

You can checkout the “traditional partners” link as well for more information on deals that are moving along.

People just post wild assertions on here that don’t even withstand superficial investigation.

That'll show 'em.

Does this mean we won ?
You must not have gotten the memo. We won this War……… I mean this epically furious “Operation” weeks ago! No big deal, I don’t think Iran has received that memo yet either.😂

Seriously though, like you, I would just like to hear a somewhat honest assessment of what is actually taking place, or at least a somewhat honest assessment of what the true goals are. I’m afraid we are a long way from having an understanding that even resembles truth.

Anyway, back to the FBI for one minute, the only qualifying trait Kash Patel has to run the agency is that he's a barely closeted homosexual.

Britain’s national security adviser, Jonathan Powell, attended the final talks between the US and Iran and judged that the offer made by Tehran on its nuclear programme was significant enough to prevent a rush to war, the Guardian can reveal.

Powell thought progress had been made in Geneva in late February and that the deal proposed by Iran was “surprising”, according to sources.

Two days after the talks ended, and after a date had been agreed for a further round of technical talks in Vienna, the US and Israel launched the attack on Iran.
UK officials have subsequently explained they were impressed that Iran was prepared for the deal to be permanent and, unlike the 2015 nuclear agreement, would not have cut-off dates, or sunset clauses ending the restrictions on its programme.

Iran had also agreed to down-blend the 440kg stockpile of highly enriched uranium under the supervision of the IAEA inside Iran. It agreed no stockpiles of highly enriched uranium would be built up in the future.

In the final session of the talks, Iran agreed to a three- to-five-year pause on domestic enrichment, but the US in the afternoon session, after consultations with Trump, demanded a 10-year pause.

In practice, Iran had no means to enrich domestically because of the bombing of its enrichment plants in 2025.

Iran had also made an offer of what the mediators described as an economic bonanza, with the US being given the chance to participate in a future civil nuclear programme.

In return, nearly 80% of the economic sanctions on Iran would have been lifted, including assets frozen in Qatar, a demand Iran made in the 2025 talks.

The Oman mediator believed the offer of zero stockpiling of highly enriched uranium was a breakthrough that meant an agreement was within reach.

from a baseline computing power, yes Trump is dumber than Biden. Trump may have him beat in a few areas, but overall I think Biden would win. Biden is just literally incapable of using whatever "smarts" he has. he doesn't face the same degree of "lack" of smarts, just the inability to use it.

kinda a tortoise vs the hair situation. Trump is slower than Biden, but Biden isn't always going, so Trump may win the race without being faster. replace slow/fast with dumb/smart
Either way, it’s a really low bar.

Was that a statement by Tucker Carlson or by the former director of the National Counterterrorism Center?
Umm, are you telling me I should take the word of all of Tucker’s guests who have had a title? Or just this one?

Why mislead?
Who? Tucker or the guy who is reportedly covering his ass for having been a security leak?

Answer: Because it is what they do.

Based on your experience, how long should it take to negotiate a $100 billion oil field development contract?
Is the US government going to invade Venezuela when the Venezuelan government decides to kick out US oil companies after they've invested in the infrastructure improvements?

Being nominated by the President to run a department, does not mean that a person's job is to then parrot the nonsense spewed by the president. That's the reason we have Senate confirmation hearings. If she cannot be trusted to give a straightforward answer to congress, and is instead going to fall back on "if the President deems it so", then she is incapable of being trusted to fulfill her oath of office.

You should find a new job. If you're input as a manage and/or an SME, it not taken into account during the decision-making process, then there's no point of trying to work in as either.
Top. I agree. But that’s also not real life for her or anyone else. And it wouldn’t be whole lot different with another potus and the appointees. Unfortunately.

Bottom. I’ve been an estimator for them for a little over 7 years now and the only one. So everything we sell go through me first. I’ve enjoyed the change at my age. We build and install food service cabinetry. In fairness I’m probably the only one he’s given a true raise and he’s done it twice. So there’s that. I’ve been beyond a marketable age for a while now. One guy I know that coached my son in baseball in middle school is president of his company. Flat told me he’d never hire me cause of my age regardless of how good I was. And that was earlier in my 50’s when he told me that. I put out a lot of resumes over the last 8 years with little to no response. Too easy to guess a persons age by what’s on the resume. I can find a happy place in my current position even though I’d wanted to make a move earlier.

The dude legitimately believes every single video he see that lines up with his hopes and whatever is going on in his head. It’s hard to watch honestly

You must have forgotten about some of her early screw ups last year. She isn't remotely qualified for the position
It is highly possible that I may have forgotten some of that. Especially since I can’t recall it even as you mention it. But I don’t expect them to be perfect all the time. Kind of a tall task. You’d be hard pressed to prove that anyone in DC is actually remotely qualified for much of anything. That list is small and distinguished. But she’s not the worst by far.
