Iran

I know I can be a sarcastic ******* so Ill let you know real thoughts.

The defense industry has current admin and Congress bought and paid for. They wanted more money in the last reconciliation package (250 billion extra per year). What did we do. Bomb Iran in right before vote. They want an extra half trillion per year now on top of that. What better than a couple of conflicts...
Versus those who can’t really fight back and all their neighbors would like to see go away.
Win win.

Except for the taxpayers.

And yes, the MIC saw the huge gravy train after 9/11 and Bush's bought and paid for warmongers fell for it...
But you are our sarcastic a*shole, Mojo, don’t you ever forget that. 👍🏾

Yeah, seems like we could have told Israel to chill for a while.
I suspect we may have, and Israel said, “Meh.” They likely saw this as a once-in-a-lifetime (no pun intended) opportunity.

At that point, entanglements became destiny - on all sides.

For better or for worse, as they say.

I agree

I didn’t know about the added money into the reconciliation package but not surprising at all

Israel saw their opportunity. We could distract from issues here. We could get support needed for huge defense spending increase.

And oil

And wayyyyyy down the list
Human rights and Iran's weapons

Don’t forget: hurting China, too. I think that is a bigger player than distraction from local (US) issues.

(China is also proof of the ignorant, nonsensical ramblings posted by D4H re: the US bowing to its funding. China waaaaay outspends Israel, and we are wearing China out on energy between Venezuela and Iran, but I digress.)

IMO, the impact this has on China is actually the #1 reason for the war. It's also a reason why, despite what the Iranians say, the Strait actually won't get closed. It'll get a lot more expensive to move oil through there though, and that hurts China a lot worse than it hurts anybody else.

The move on Maduro and this Iranian action is 100% related.

Dont disagree about China but still think a huge factor causing the oil grab is to kill the green industry here....

Interesting. I hadn't thought about that.

I might have thought we could do that by just killing it in the fracking fields of west Tx, then I check to see that WTI is in the $60's (70's today with uncertainty) and I realize that 60 WTI is a decent baseline for new development, but it isn't going to spur 20-teen level investment, they need $80+ to really get cranking down there, if my mineral royalties are any indication.

So a GOP Senator whom is a former SEAL is on CNN yelling the quiet part out loud 😂. Yes, this is absolutely about regime change. Or as he pointed out all of the reasons given are valid as is regime change they’ve been at this for about five decades and it’s a long list of grievances.

Oh… and oil 🤣

This guy is an idiot if he thinks that Israel being threatened won't lead Israel to act. He is a fool if he thinks that Israel acting won't lead Iran to respond against not only Israel, but Israel's allies. He is a moron if he doesn't think US interests can be threatened even if the US mainland remains safe.

There may be reasons to criticize what we are doing right now, but saying that the US wouldn't be threated by Iran if Israel attacked is idiocy. Heck, Iran is bombing other middle eastern countries! They sure aren't going to not try to kill Americans, whether we joined Israel or not.
