But these types of games are harder to predict because when you have a full week to prepare, the arithmetic can change. (Good example was the UK S16 last year. With a week to prepare we solved their defense that had hurt us so bad in the two games earlier that season)

I value KenPom rating very highly. The difference between their KenPom and ours is a pretty large gap. It’s the same difference as ours is to Texas or Georgia (to give you context to a team you would have seen us play this year)

ultimately I think Iowa State is a pretty clear favorite. But you can’t count us out. It’s March, after all.

This is what gives me the most hope. This seems to always make a big difference with Barnes.

Fwiw, Iowa St. beat guy on Basilio's show today said that as of yesterday Jefferson still couldn't walk on it, and that he doubted there was much chance he plays.

Yeah I feel like there's a been a game or two every season where we see one or two zone possessions. From what I remember, the limited nature of these instances is because they were overall ineffective.

They turn you over. Take care of the ball, make some timely 3's, play some inside out and they should be in it til the end.. Tennessee is bigger inside.

Looking at KenPom efficiency correlations to the Four Factors, the key stats here are our offensive rebounding vs. their defensive rebounding, and their FG% vs. our FG defense.

We’ve got the edge on the glass; they’ve got a slight edge in shooting. Overall favors us.

But turnover margin stands out. It doesn’t correlate strongly at all, but the gap massively favors ISU - and that could swing it.

If we take care of the ball, we match up well.

Big if.

They turn people over and we turn the ball over. If we win it will be the biggest NCAA win for Barnes at UT. And if you win, you get Michigan, who would destroy us. May beat Barnes with Florida Atlantic talent.

ISU fans are really spooked by the job speculation after Matt Campbell jilted them. I have to say they’re lucky he stayed for as long as he did. He had been a candidate for other jobs for years

I wouldn’t mind a zone every now and then but you need length. Can’t go out there with 6’1 and 6’2 at guard and play a 2-3.
Now if we had 6’5, 6’6 and 6’7 playing a little 3-2 to not give up easy shots on the wing is something I would try but can’t do it against teams who like the corner 3

Carey is like Dean Portman in D2. We don’t need a bully every game, but there’s a few, like Sunday and especially against Louisville early season, we don’t win. Also, without him we would have exactly zero depth in the big men since Cade went down unexpectedly.

When someone says they can’t understand, just believe them. Another explanation isn’t going to remove their inability to pay attention.

Carey leads the team in the statistic that this team is most known for. Offensive rebounds. We don’t have to keep explaining this every other week.

As others mentioned here, this game will be won in the turnover margin. If we can stop turning the ball over, it will be a very close game. If not, then we will be killed.
