Iowa Message Boards

From what ive read on their boards, they think this bowl is beneath them. Freaking hilarious if you ask me. They seem to think they are some kind of football powerhouse. Breaking news to all Iowa football fans, regardless of the outcome of this game, you will still only be Iowa and we will still be UT.

Theyre also claiming that were overly confident which I find hilarious. That fact that most of us feel better about playing Iowa rather than WV doesn't mean we're over confident. I think it's safe to say, at least as far as I'm concerned, after watching our most recent struggles I can't believe any of us could be confident much less over confident.

From the highlights I have seen of their football team, the only thing I was impressed with was their line play. Everything else was really slow.

I have some family in Iowa so I've spent some time up there. That state really has no redeeming characteristics.
They have Toppling Goliath. TN doesn't have any breweries close to that level...but as for the rest, I can't think of one single reason to visit.

I went to their scout board last night and they do seem really down on their coach. After going through the Dooley years I completely understand.

born in Tennessee raised in Kentucky but live in Iowa. my suckeye friends here just flat out believe that Tennessee has no shot at winning

If Dobbs has time to throw something other than a bubble screen, we win by 10+. If not, they may be right.

Make sure you let all those Buckeye fans know that everyone south of Cincinnati just flat out believe that OSU has no shot of beating Bama or getting within 3 touchdowns of them

Found this comment on one of their "Game Prediction" message boards and have to share it. The visuals of these predictions cracked me up!!!

Tied at 17 in the 4th, Dobbs breaks off a 31 yrd run on 4th and 30, doing the moonwalk for the final 15, as Alston is still unable to catch up with him. The Vols kick a game winning field goal, at which point Kirk tosses his gum in disgust and curses the ebbs and flow of the game. Smokey takes a dump in the endzone and Greg Davis slips in it to provide some comic relief for the fans.

That cracked me up.
They seem like a likable fanbase.

This one cracked me up.

"I wish the other qb they had starting earlier this year was still playing. He was more of a statue. I'm not sure if hes hurt or just benched."

I promise you, Black Heart Gold Pants is the best of the bunch. Just a little ticked off right now due to the crappy season.

Damn it, is Hurd playing? The one thing about CBJ I can"t stand, just tell us if a player is in or out. Kind of makes it very tough on us bettors. There should be an injury report system like the NFL for college.

Pretty sure CBJ said Hurd was full go today during his press conference.

FWIW (which is not much) Jimmy Hyams said he doesn't buy into the whole extra 15 practices because he thinks they just have relaxed practices and don't actually do much with the playbook or developing the players. I swear, that guy is just a freaking idiot
I remember Joe Pa saying he'd rather recruits stay in high school, so they could do the senior year stuff

They should keep him... It's Iowa not really a football powerhouse.. I kno bout Hayden Fry and that's bout it..

The powerhouse tag left Iowa when Hayden Fry left. They thought they would be back to prominence when Ricky Stansi was QB, but things didn't always pan out for him. We have been thru the same struggles in recent years. Should be a good game. I AM REALLY glad we are in a bowl!!!! Go Vols.:dance2:

That's excellent. Any self-deprecating fanbase is okay with me.
