Internal Resistance Rumor Debunked

People want two things: 1) a scapegoat and 2) reasons beyond incompetence. It’s much easier to say “WELL THE BOT AND HASLAM WANT THE PROGRAM TO SUCK OR THEY WANT CONTROL OF THE PROGRAM AND HAVE EVERYTHING” when it simply isn’t the case. Haslam might have wanted Schiano as HC, but he definitely wasn’t the only one.

No, the reason Tennessee is in the state it is isn’t a conspiracy or a power struggles, it’s just good old fashioned incompetence and unfortunate luck. If High Freeze becomes the Alabama or Auburn OC, or maybe the Liberty coach, it isn’t because the BOT sabotaged it, it’s because Freeze was patient and had better options.

A rumor floating around suggested Charlie Anderson was the internal resistance hamstringing the Freeze hire for OC.
At first blush it seemed plausible that he could be exerting pressure on the AD considering he helped get Coach Fulmer hired.
After all, that would make it difficult to allow a hire he wasn't "behind" for anyone in that position.
On the other hand, that can't possibly be true because anyone on the Athletic Committee cannot be involved with personnel matters or decisions,
like the hiring of Freeze. In fact, in the words of the official board documents,

Certainly the hiring of personnel for the Offensive Coordinator constitutes part of the day-to-day operations of the athletics program, including personnel matters.
That's all well and good, but if that only applies to Athletic Committee members, how does it apply to Charlie Anderson?
He was named the Chairman of the Athletic Committee. If he's not a member, no one is.

We know he would neither intentionally violate the boundaries set forth for the Athletic Committee nor allow anyone on the committee to do so.

Therefore, we may all be grateful that he is preventing any internal resistance to the Freeze hire which would be a violation which means we can all rest assured that any internal resistance was nothing more than a rumor.

Let it Freeze!

Are you Charlie Anderson's PR man??

"they acknowledge it wasn't inappropriate but it made them feel strange", is this what we have come to as a society for guilt? Also, if continue to play like a C-USA team it won't matter how illegally we recruit.

Three former UT Vols are set to comprise an athletics committee providing added oversight

Are you using logic here. You are talking about a Haslam run program right? BVS its real.

I heard a rumor that concerns were brought up by the schools Title 9 coordinator.
Not true. Briarcrest christian school put out a statement in support of hugh freeze, and all these allegations were debunked. Not a single complaint for years until they started attacking his life. Sad situation. Freeze and family are well thought of and respected in all of north ms. His dad was a pastor and football coach as well. Everybody that knows anything about them knows they are as good as gold. Everyonecan make mistakes, but hugh harrassing young girls is a blatant lie.

I’m not saying it’s not a lie. I’m saying that Tennessee’s Title9 compliance person put up an objection to Freeze being hired. At least that’s the rumor.

Disagree. This is all about politics, exchanging money, and handshakes under the table. It's a state institution. Are Haslam and the BOT masterminds behind a cooridinator hire ? Maybe not, but I have no doubt there are power players, secret handshakes and chess games being played.

I'm just glad Pruitt doesn't seem to be as concerned as we are. He's recruiting currently. I think Freeze is the guy he wants and he's willing to wait a little to land him if possible. It would be nice to have an OC for recruiting purposes and staff continuity on the offensive side of the ball but it's not as time sensitive as some act like.

As far as someone meddling in the search, yeah I could definitely see it and rules aren't going to stop the guys who would be brazen enough to do it. Most of these guys didn't make their fortunes by playing by the rules. Lol except Haslam, his dumbass inherited his fortune.

Words there to offer plausible deniability.

The Haslam family runs the University. They have spent a lot of time and money making sure of it.

You're never going to find a smoking gun where a booster, via email or a recorded phone call, says "Hire Greg Schiano as HC." It doesn't work like that. When someone in control of, or trying to influence, a situation wants to disguise their control of influence, all they have to do is send a signal and people respond accordingly.

Only if they felt it necessary. No sense in being paranoid. 98% of the world other than VolNation doesn't even know there's a coaching vacancy.

With the recent Title 9 problems and all the $$$ that cost us you can bet that we're still being watched very closely so that's a legit concern to many people.

It's also a legit concern that the NCAA will be watching our recruiting extra closely if we hire Freeze since it's well known that he and his staff paid players to join his program.

Anyone that thinks the Haslam family doesn't want power to say who gets hired is in denial because they want a say in everything including hiring the waterboys and janitors.

VFL...GBO!!!

Our boosters seem to always feel it necessary.

Some here say that the boosters and admin don't care enough to be successful and lack a commitment to the program. I disagree. I think they all badly want to be successful, but they want to be successful on their terms. They want to be successful, but they want that success to occur because it was their idea.

That's all understandable. It would only be weird if it wasn't.

where did the poll thread go about those that would be Ok with freeze? I can't seem to find it, but would try to keep it front and center. If anyone related to the university wanted to feel the pulse"of fandom" or at least volition , it would be good for it to be there. Im sure they have to at least be nervous after the mass schiano revolt
