A rumor floating around suggested Charlie Anderson was the internal resistance hamstringing the Freeze hire for OC.
At first blush it seemed plausible that he could be exerting pressure on the AD considering he helped get Coach Fulmer hired.
After all, that would make it difficult to allow a hire he wasn't "behind" for anyone in that position.
On the other hand, that can't possibly be true because anyone on the Athletic Committee cannot be involved with personnel matters or decisions,
like the hiring of Freeze. In fact, in the words of the official board documents,

The board documents note that committee members “must avoid involvement in the day-to-day operations of the athletics programs, including personnel matters and matters involving particular student-athletes.” The committee’s meetings will be subject to the Tennessee Open Meetings Act.

Certainly the hiring of personnel for the Offensive Coordinator constitutes part of the day-to-day operations of the athletics program, including personnel matters.
That's all well and good, but if that only applies to Athletic Committee members, how does it apply to Charlie Anderson?
He was named the Chairman of the Athletic Committee. If he's not a member, no one is.

We know he would neither intentionally violate the boundaries set forth for the Athletic Committee nor allow anyone on the committee to do so.

Therefore, we may all be grateful that he is preventing any internal resistance to the Freeze hire which would be a violation which means we can all rest assured that any internal resistance was nothing more than a rumor.

Let it Freeze!

CJP isn't in a hurry to make a hire. May be looking to the NFL for the hire instead.

Volnation and vol fans are the only ones banging their heads, and chasing their tails in circles.Trust me 98% of the world doesn't give 2 sh*ts who we hire.Pruitt may have his guy already, don't believe anyone knows for sure at this point.

It may not be Anderson but it is someone in the board of trustees! They are concerned with 2 issues 1. the NCAA will be watching like a hawk and we can not be recruiting the way BAMA and the DOGS are. [Recruiting like BAMA and the Dogs is the only way to get back to the top] 2. Allegations made by 3 high school girls he coached in basketball. They allege he was somewhat inappropriate with them. Not sexual but they felt strange.

Three former UT Vols are set to comprise an athletics committee providing added oversight

The Athletic Committee is a small 3 person committee inside the Board of Trustees. While none on the Athletic Committee or Charlie Anderson may have pushed back on this it doesn't mean that someone higher up on the BOT hasn't pushed back. That being said, I just think Freeze doesn't want to be here.

I heard a rumor that concerns were brought up by the schools Title 9 coordinator.

Anybody who thinks Anderson or Haslem WON'T Take a hand in this if they feel like it.......please stand on your head!!!
This thread is laughable! Sure Haslam and Anderson just donate and watch from the sidelines, wink, wink! They couldn't influence decesions being made because is could violate rules, wink, wink. They are simply donors who support UT and the football program and care only about student athletes, wink, wink. Riiiiiiiiiiight!

Amen! With both of them working on it, we'll be sure to get the Freeze deal done as he's the most qualified candidate, fit for the program, and best chance to get back to winning.

I defy anyone who thinks they're big enough to stop Anderson and Haslam from hiring Freeze. That'll be the day!

Bet I know who you were listening to on the radio a little over an hour ago. If what Basilio claims is true, it again shows for the 2nd year in a row some real ineptitude on the powers that be to have not done their due diligence before putting it out that the Freeze hire was happening either over the weekend or Monday. Freeze apparently denied those allegations so I'm guessing that CJP and our AD thought that was good enough? Basilio's take that Alabama can get away with hiring Freeze while UT may not is an interesting take as it assumes that Saban intimidates both the NCAA and the whole media whereas UT is nothing more than a whipping boy. My how I miss Commissioner Kramer.

If we're playing by the rules.... Donors have no say in the matter either. They aren't even employed by the University.
