The Great Uniform Debate | Wogan on Sports

Hey guys a little off topic, just wanted to hear some opinions!

These uniforms are awful, however im a huge advocate for the orange helmet, dont change the uniform at all, simply just have the orange helmet for maybe 1 game this year, Still the school colors ORANGE and WHITE (not black, the black jersey is overdone and not a school color) just an inverted color scheme.

Would absolutely love to see the Vols in the GA Dome against NC state wearing
-This orange helmet w/ White Power T
-Traditional White Away Jersey (since we are the visiting team)
-Orange pants that we have been wearing on the road recently.
Basically the opposite of the home jersey scheme, white helmet & orange power T, orange jersey, white pants.

I think this would look really sharp and be only a minor change to the uniform, nothing radical IMO.

what do yall think, love to hear!

Go Big Orange!

You posted this in 2 threads? I prefer the white helmets.

Why do these posts always turn out to be Fulmer bashing...he's gone, get over it quit blaming everything on him.... Let's get excited and move foward and quit looking back trying to find someone or something to blame.

UT needs consistent reminding of how it got into this position, no matter whose ox gets gored.

anyway, I was encouraged. He finally set some of expectations.

They are there either way. As long as he knows it and the program is run that way that is all that really matters. Im not sure him admitting what is already there is that encouraging for me. Im ready to see the product, only a month away.

Hey Jv, I know you have an issue with DD and what he has said in the past.
No comment on his media day?

I honestly haven't seen much of the interviews. Been busy. What I have heard is an improvement over the past. We'll see if it keeps up when it gets "thick".

Fair enough. I think he said some things you may want to hear. Maybe too late for you, but better than never.

He didn't overestimate anything. He just got lazy and arrogant. I don't know whether he is still lazy today but he is still arrogant. And you're right, to get and keep top prospects you have to work at it all the time.

If I was raking in all that money not doing anything, I'd probably get lazy too.

I wish Mike Hamilton would do an interview and disclose who was willing to take the UT job when he hired Dooley. Given how bad our roster was, I imagine the list would be short and unimpressive.

We hear this one all the time. I wish someone would explain how this attempt at a rationalization should have any bearing on analyzing Dooley's performance. Do we just accept everything as it is, wring our hands, and repeatedly sob that no one else would have us like we were lepers? You think UT was/is a crappy place that no good coach would want to come to. I get that, but I don't agree with that. Even if it were true that he's the only coach in America that would take the job, I don't care. It's irrelevant. His performance is still able to be discussed.

The Little Orphan Annie attitude of no one loves us is an admission that you think UT is not an attractive place. You can have that negative outlook towards UT; I'm not going to have it. Talk about negavols....

The flashy skill position players sell tickets. The big uglies up front win championships.

The best season I ever had was when I had some highly skilled big guys with nasty attitudes on both sides of the ball combined with average to decent skill players.

Too bad having awesome players in both areas is a rare occurrence.

Bama disagrees.

The fact that Dooley was the only coach to accept the position that was approached about it is anything but a rationalization for the last two years; its merely an illustration of just how bad the situation must have been for so many (just) decent coaches to turn down an opportunity to coach at a top 10-15 coaching job in the NCAA.

He did.

I never shut doors completely. He can show me he has a chance with 9 wins. If he blisters it, I'm not above saying I was wrong.

So we have to be ok with settling for the only guy that said ok?

That's BS to me.

WHO SAID THAT???

I wasn't ok with the hiring of Dooley, I just presented one reason WHY he was ever considered for the job.

I must has misse his comment about Dooleys performance that you are going on about.

Why do these posts always turn out to be Fulmer bashing...he's gone, get over it quit blaming everything on him. It's sounds like Obama blaming Bush for everything.

Part of the problem was the coaching turnover and the loss of players through attrition. The scholarship limits slowed down the rebuilding process as well. Now Dooley finally has 85 scholarship players and a much improved defensive coaching staff. Let's get excited and move foward and quit looking back trying to find someone or something to blame.

Can't wait for the fall! Go Vols!
Because two of the three recruiting classes in question here are on him. Fultard got lazy and it ran the program into the ground.

Yeah...I'm still trying to figure that one out myself...and the fact that he apparently thinks I thought it was ok to take the first guy that said yes to the job.

I wasn't being confrontational. I was just presenting my side. I realize why he was considered. Part of that was MH is an idiot, imo. However, that still doesn't mean you just throw your hands up and accept it.

I'm not calling for Dooley's head immediately. Can he get it done? Possibly. I just don't think he will. Just not much of a fan of the "who else would have us" attitude. It's not the attitude of a winner, imo.

Dooley will be fine

This is one thing that I have often wondered about some that have the opinion that the list was slim given the circumstances (which I am sure has some weight) but on the other hand can look at Dooleys career and feel confident. Not just, he's here and we need to give him a chance but confident he will be the guy to fix the problem.

I hope in the end Dooley was a great hire from a solid (maybe not the best) field of guys interested considering the circumstances. But confident given he was on a unimpressive list is hard to figure.

It comes out anytime anyone dares besmirch Dooley. If you don't realize that, you're not paying attention.

I'm not blasting Dooley here. I'm blasting the attitude of woe is me,; nobody wants us.

Show me where I said that. I asked a question. You are reading into what you are claiming now.

I was pointing out my feelings on that- not implying yours.

Nor was I...the all CAPS have a way of over-emphasizing my point.

The biggest issue was Hamilton's pledge to have a coach hired within one week. Hindsight being 20/20, who knows, would an Interim HC have been the better idea? It definitely worked out for Ohio State.

Me personally, I have no friggin clue how he's going to do this year. I have stated several times though that I have a hard time seeing more than 8 wins...hope I'm wrong.

As for Dooley, I don't think there's any way I can make a 100% accurate judgement on him as a coach b/c of the swiss-cheese roster he inherited with only marginal amounts of talent. I can, however, say that the evidence is stacked against him...and it's not good.

I hope he proves it all wrong this season...there's enough talent on this roster to do some serious damage in the SEC, with the right coach....

It was inferred...or at least, that's how I interpreted it.

No worries...:hi:
