The NIL money will now incentivize these players to go where they can play and get paid instead of sitting for two years before they get their chance. They all think they could “throw it over that mountain “ if coach would just put them in. Teams will be able to keep their top 30-35 players happy because they will get the bulk of the snaps. After that, the rest are going to be looking around to see if they can get a better situation at another school.

I think probably yes in the sense we have always known it. But over a few years, I think this is going to act as a general equalizer for a big chunk of schools. At least for the ones that are working to go all in on these collectives. It looks like we are definitely going to be in the mix. Alabama,Georgia, Ohio State, etc. are not going to be able to keep a stranglehold on all the best players. Schools like us are going to be there to take advantage of that.
Whether the changes will make it too mercenary to appreciate it is in the eye of the beholder. Progress always happens. It’s usually not for the better.

Speculation 1: FCS schools may benefit also due to unhappy but very good players who happen to be egoistic, impatient, or both.

Speculation 2: For the same reason stated, watch out for Deon Sanders. He's going to be a magnet for such players, plus use their unhappiness to play the revenge card as reason to attend his HBCU program. Thus upgrade their competitive level. Pull a Boise State on major programs and end up in major bowls against high quality opponents.

Gonna be fun as well as certifiably crazy to see how all this stuff shakes out.

UGA and Bama still have to be at or below 85. They are not down on numbers like UT. This will help UT more than teams not are not short on numbers. Just common sense.

Completely true. Honestly though it just feels like something is changing in the landscape of college football. Auburn and Bama seem to be not as potent in recruiting as in years past. And I know Bama is still really stacked but Saban whining about the NIL just seems like blood in the water.

The portal window when one can leave has to be limited to a certain time period. Everybody agrees with this, the NCAA said this was a priority so let’s get that done. The biggest problem they can solve right now is this, just do it already. This has to be addressed now. GBO!

So will the self imposed recruiting penalties that we assessed against ourselves not hurt us at all? I don't recall the actual penalties we gave ourselves but maybe it won't effect us now.

We self impose a reduction of 10 scholarships for this past year which was why we were limited on the number of transfers we could take in the spring. We were already low on numbers anyway due to all the transfer we lost. Our numbers resets over the summer and we will have our full allotted 85 scholarships for the fall.

Considered by most? No. He is universally recognized as the GOAT and it’s not close. Here is the deal, you can get all the 5*s you want, but if you cannot develop and be a great X’s and O’s? Then you will be a failure. Think about it. Let’s say Dooley had 5 #1 recruiting classes in a row. You think he would have parlayed that into multiple NCs? How about Butch? Or Pruitt?

The simple fact is Saban is the best coach. Also realize that getting the best players is a big part of college coaching.

The transfer portal is a one time only deal. If a player wants to transfer again after that they have to sit out a year.

I think most people don't know this. "Everybody can transfer whenever," has been the mantra. Well, yes, since the ncaa just passed out a free transfer card to everyone at the same time. Many have used them up, however.

You ain't getting a second one until you graduate. Down a division or sit a year is still gonna put a damper on the portal.

Jimbo Fisher, who actually coached with him, thinks otherwise. He said in his statement (paraphrasing here) lets see how good he is without every advantage.

I personlly think Jimbo was referencing more than his recruiting advantages. Thus the continued use of the word despicable. I could ibe wrong ...but in time im confident that the expose' on the Saban era at Bama will be an embarrassment for more than just Bama fans and people.

Once upon a time a great five star running back I happen to know told me a story about Nick recruiting him to LSU. The official visit was done and he and his parents were in Nick’s office. Nick closes the door,sits down in his chair, and smiles that toothy fake smile of his. He then stretches his short little arms towards the heavens and says what will it take for you to come here. I wasn’t in the room but I believe the story because the guy telling me that has nothing to gain now for it.
