Indiana

Says the one who keeps hiding behind loser excuses and qualifiers.

Indiana is an excellent football team. The best of the Big Ten. It was hard to judge how good until the playoffs. They got some players from those good JMU teams a few years ago. I don't know about any other portal adds but it appears to be a good mix of recruiting, development, and coaching as well. I think Miami will be the best defense they play this year though. I'm not sure if Miami has a chance to win, but their only chance appears to be to shorten the game.

I think I misread your comment, apologies.

No problem. I was wondering why I couldn't admit I was wrong about Indiana but explain why I got it wrong. Their players are built like they stay in the weight room. It's sorta shocking how good they are without the household names.

A win over Oregon at Autzen, and again in a bowl game, the latter being a blowout.

A win over previously undefeated Ohio State.

An evisceration of Alabama.

Potentially a win over a Miami team that has been quite impressive lately.

It's a very, very strong resume, but other teams historically didn't have the benefit of a multi-round playoff.

I don't know about best team, but you could argue that they're having the best season in history, if that distinction makes sense.

Will be hard to argue with 16-0 with 5wins versus top10 teams.

Edit. @ORE by 10pts
OSU by 10?
Bama by 35
ORE by 34
Miami by ???

That will be quite impressive at 16-0. Even with the diluted talent of the NIL era. OSU, Bama, and ORE last 4 recruiting classes ALL 3 schools average top5 nationally. Those teams are loaded with 5* kids. 3/4 kids on their rosters are Bluechips.
Yet Indiana took a bunch of 23yo unrated and 3* kids that proved they could play college ball and beat their azzes. They just absolutely DOMINATED the LOS on both sides of the ball vs Bama and ORE. That shouldn't happen ever. Period. Those 23yo young men beat down a bunch of 5* boys aged 18 to 21.

obviously the only way to know who is best is on the field. But I can’t shake the thought that it is a advantage to be able to basically practice for four months and then make the playoffs and destroy teams who have fought tooth and nail for the last 4 months.

But whatever. I love the Indiana story and hope they crush the canes

yeah, don’t think there’s any question that Cignetti is a much better coach than Coach O. But I agree that LSU was the better team. Joe Burrow and Jamar Chase alone put that team above Indiana. Id also put 2001 Miami and the mid 90s Nebraska teams over Indiana as well.

What Cignetti’s run shows is that coaching will always be king in Cfb. Teams like Texas A&M get better classes and better players yet fall short due to the guy on the sideline, while Indiana punches well above its weight because their coach knows what he’s doing and could turn a toaster into an All-American.
That Tommy Frazier Nebraska team was unbeatable.

You need to quit drinking the SEC kool aid.

Sec is clearly still the most talent laden league. Big 10 is second. I’m glad Indiana is there and hope they win.

The SEC just set the all time record for most players drafted from 1 conference to the NFL. This year. 89 players IIRC.

The big10 is top heavy. Half their conference is terrible. Half.

Great; but your logic makes no sense. If Indiana was just ā€œpracticingā€ 4 months and Alabama is such a great team, Bama would have beaten them. Indiana kicked their ass.

If Bama had beaten them you’d say it proves they are a fraud; now IU whips their ass and you say it’s because they got to coast. It’s goal post moving copium and lazy.

TAMU was a fraud. Missouri was a fraud. We didn’t beat a winning team. The SEC is just as top heavy.

Indiana is a well coached team, they're a machine. They don't beat themselves, which is a sign of a good coach, and great culture. They remind me of the Concord De La Salle team. I was always a fan of Coach Bob Ladouceur. Not overly athletic but precise.

If UT had shut out USC in the Rose Bowl, it would have been undeniably the best team of all time. That didn't happen though.
Not only did they win every game that year, but they shut out every opponent. I think it would be safe to say Bowl games were a cherry on the season and the teams didn't take it all that serious. Sort of like the opting out now - they already won the championship (Bowls weren't accounted for back then when in comes to natty's).
