Indiana OC to Fresno State as HC

Clueless Randy Sanders just ran what Cut prepared for him in the Fiesta Bowl. I suspect that will happen with IU........assuming their next man up is as clueless as Sanders was.
Randy Sanders spent 22yrs as a player and coach for Tennessee. Are your panties in a wad just because he went to Kentucky?

TRUE STORY.... my hometown of Savannah, TN actually hosted the NAIA National Championship game from 1996 thru 2007. The first year we hosted it, University of Sioux Falls was one of the teams in the finals. We brought the teams in on like Wednesday or Thursday for the festivities, banquets, etc. Well on the Friday before the championship game on Saturday... DeBoer hurts one of his big toes... severely... and looks doubtful for the game. He still dresses out for the game... and about a couple hours before the game, he is talking to one of our volunteers, who is a dentist.... and somehow works it out that the dentist shoots up his great toe with novacaine… . DeBoer was their best WR, and the team leader. They won the Championship against Western Washington (who by the way had a 2nd year position coach named David Shaw...now the HC at Stanford). The next year one of the finalists was Willamette University out of Oregon... coached by Dan Hawkins,,,,, who left there and had great 4 yr run @ Boise St,, before taking the Colorado HC job..

Randy Sanders a VFL, but a terrible OC was he. Lived and died by the bubble screen play that our enemies knew was coming did they.

would of been better if whole message was in Yoda dialogue ..#my2

What an asinine, juvenile thing to write.

Looking past the ad hominem attacks, it seems to me the other side of this particular ‘debate’ had the wadded panty problem.

Just sayin’

Since this is essentially an exhibition game against a staff/opponent that Tennessee may not play against for another 30+ years, I would expect minimal time and effort will be spent focusing on what Indiana may do. Preparations and practice time should be spent almost entirely on just improving techniques and running plays they want to use next season.

Is the blue font missing? Because this is exactly what this staff did 4 months ago. Im fairly certain thay mistake will not be repeated

I hope you are correct. There are a lot of Vol fans who think this is going to be a massive blowout.
And they'll be screaming with disappoinment whne they're wrong, in spite of the fact this game should not be a blowout

The difference is, this game doesn't matter like that one did. Most people don't care about winning bowl games, including recruits. It's just a bonus to get 15 extra practices and it's fun for the kids.

Yet, we won the game and a National Championship. How sad was that?

All joking aside, the Fiesta plan was Cutcliffe's. Once Sanders began to run the show, the endless stream of bubble screens and 5 yard out patterns on 3rd and 8 started. Our offense took a steady drop back under Sanders' leadership. To ne fair. there has been discussion that this was the work of Fulmer, due to Fulmer not trusting Sanders to actually take charge of the offense. Sanders has had some success elsewhere, but his OC tenure at Tennessee was a disaster.

There were two bad years for the offense during his time, 2002 and 2005. 1999, 2001, 2003, & 2004 were pretty good offensive teams. His problem was that he was never an elite OC and after winning a NC thats what the fans wanted and expected. To say his entire tenure was a disaster is not correct.

If this staff allows this team to be embarassed because they didn't take it seriously, then i expect them to be fired by the end of 2021.

And not sure where the most people poll/survey was taken but they didn't ask any competitive people because thats a bs statement.

The vast majority of fans care and if you're a coach or player who doesn't have a strong desire to impose your will on your competition, you arent going to have much success, ever.

Fans care, most players don't. If you think the better team wins a majority of bowl fans, I've got a pyramid scheme I'd love you to be a part of. That's why picking the winner of bowl games is so difficult. If it's not for a championship, it does not matter.

The fact that so many teams underperform in bowl games. Just come how many underdogs win this book season.

Bowls are an event for these kids. They get to do really fun things, travel to new places and they get a bunch of free stuff, including spending money. It's a reward for them.

Bowl attendance and ratings are suffering. That's because most people realize bowls don't matter. Use the opportunity to get better with the extra practices, and reward your guys for a successful season. That's what bowl games are about.

How serious your team takes it depends on how much prestigious the bowl is compared to how prestigious your program is. That's been my observation anyway. Expect Bama to underperform in the Citrus Bowl is what I'm saying. Expect Virginia to play really hard against Florida, and for that game to be closer than people think. Expect the Tennessee game to be really close, because although Tennessee is the better team, Indiana is not an exciting program, which is why you see fans talk about not being excited. On the flip side, expect Indiana players to be thrilled with the draw.

Bowl games are not like regular season games at all. Countless examples are available throughout the years of a team getting beat in a bowl game that would never get beat in the same game during the regular season.

I thought this was common knowledge?

Here's an article I just found to complement my comment.

Do bowl games matter? Yes and no
