TRUE STORY.... my hometown of Savannah, TN actually hosted the NAIA National Championship game from 1996 thru 2007. The first year we hosted it, University of Sioux Falls was one of the teams in the finals. We brought the teams in on like Wednesday or Thursday for the festivities, banquets, etc. Well on the Friday before the championship game on Saturday... DeBoer hurts one of his big toes... severely... and looks doubtful for the game. He still dresses out for the game... and about a couple hours before the game, he is talking to one of our volunteers, who is a dentist.... and somehow works it out that the dentist shoots up his great toe with novacaine… . DeBoer was their best WR, and the team leader. They won the Championship against Western Washington (who by the way had a 2nd year position coach named David Shaw...now the HC at Stanford). The next year one of the finalists was Willamette University out of Oregon... coached by Dan Hawkins,,,,, who left there and had great 4 yr run @ Boise St,, before taking the Colorado HC job..
