In Kiff we trust!...??

People act like he got the boot, pulled his scholly or denied his signature for an LOI, Kiffin told him where the program is headed and that he (Thigpen) needs to make a decision for himself. Not to say that he won't fit in, but that he might not be utilized the way he was looking to used as.

Bottom line is, letting thigpen go this late in recruting after the kid stayed solid through all the drama is down right classless. But i guess this is the price of running a "pro style" program. I guess the first thing to go is loyalty. Imagine if you were this kid. its just a dirty move imop

I hope Thig will dig down and say "You know what Coach...I understand and appreciate what you've told me but I'm sticking to my commitment and I'm going to prove you wrong with every thread of talent I have...after that hopefully my accomplishments will teach you something about heart and commitment".

Unless you know the whole story, probably on a select few actually do, then you can't call it dirty.

And he's not letting him go, for the 500th time.

I think we all know that is just semantics. Telling someone he will not be fully utilized/does not fit into the offensive scheme and that he may want to look elsewhere is basically the same as letting him go. Hell, the same could be said about Bryce Petty and Tajh Boyd since Kiffin is not ALLOWED to let anybody go.

Also, I'm not sure how often these "silent commitments" are actually true. For one, it doesn't make sense. There is no reason for a kid to silently commit and for a coach to be okay with it. There may be players that commit to us "M. Brown, etc" but I doubt that they have already told Kiffin that they are committed. For our sakes, and Kiffin's, we better have a great NSD.

Exactly, none of us know what is really happening or will happen. CLK is not an idiot in recruiting, judging talent, or judging character. We can speculate all we want but we are only fans not coaches. Give the man a little credit and let him do his job and everyone else stick to our 9-5 office jobs.

9-5??? Are you joking man?? You have to be a kid with television perception  Try 6A to 7P for me as an engineer...Even bankers are 8A-6P these days.

I guess you spend the rest of your free time coaching Div 1 and Pro Football as you seem to know what is best for the program and juding what is the best fit for a football team that you know nothing about. Since you have to work such long hours, you might want to send CLK your resume since you know something about a HS football team in AL or wherever Prattville is.

BTW, I know very well that some have to work more than 8 hours per day. I feel for you...

In regards to the thread title, you simply have no choice. He is the head coach so, buckle up and hold on.

My 7 year old son can name former players off the top of his head as well, not sure what you meant there. I am saying you know nothing about the future team: schemes, players/talent that the coaches want, offensive and defensive plays; therefore players that the coaches really like. You state that CLK is stupid for letting a kid go that can run fast. I think he has his reasons and he doesn't care what your thoughts are even if you know the record of some HS team somewhere in AL. Now it is starting to make sense as to why you have to work such long hours...

For you my friend...enjoy Larry Smith at Vandy QB next year as well (in the vid). These kids have been running the spread for 10 yrs and have 3 peat 6A championships to back that they are very good on their level....If UT (CPF and CDC) and AU could have figured this out on a larger scale maybe they could have competed last year.

May not be 6A but is 4A and 7peated but was beaten in the Championship to prevent 8peat.

You just don't get it. We don't give two craps what some "if coach would have put me in we would have won state guy" from Prattville High School engineer/historian/jock sniffer thinks he knows what is best for the TN football. Enough of this school or the little county in AL that you live in. Let CLK do his job and you keep reporting to the Prattville Times and the world will be a better place.
