Impact players this fall…especially new players

I’ll start paying attention if we start 5-0. Beyond that, I’m more into NFL now. NIL and portal were so poorly executed that it’s ruined the sport for me in many ways
The landscape in college football has definitely changed, but I'll still take it over the NFL every day. The tradition, pageantry, and rivalries are still there. The vast majority of the players are still playing for the love of the game. Every game is important in CFB. Not so much in the NFL. If some of those week one matchups don't move the needle for you, I don't know what to tell you.

Does anyone feel any different on Saturday ? Do the games mean any less? At least now we see lesser teams have a chance at recruiting and the actual game. It’s more like baseball or basketball now. Yes these smaller programs have an uphill battle but they have more athletes now. Way more exiting matchups every single week.

Since you said especially new guys, on offense I'm going with any new transfer. Aguilar, Moe, Pendleton, and Thomas were all brought in for a reason. They all have significant starting experience, so they are in a great position to be impact players. Same for Colton Hood. Huge upside, starting experience, and could make an immediate impact. Especially if McCoy isn't healthy. A few new guys on defense that could have an impact are Ross, Lindstrom, and Spillman.

We won 10 games when our non conference gets us 3 wins… it shouldn’t happen we should play 10 in conference games
Huh????

I mean if all the other conferences do it....but then you would have more ACC teams in there, and other at large teams from weaker conferences, or multiple 9 - 3 teams from the SEC and Big 10 in the play-offs, more injuries to key players, ect. Playing more than 8 conference games is silly.

Heard, Moe, Satterwhite, Sham, Perry, Pendleton and Sanders. If the OL can play better this year than last, does that open the offense back up?

Heup always seems to have a solid run game, but can they get back to throwing the ball around the yard?

Having an OL that can pass protect will be the key. Its been a while.
They have not been that bad on pass protection. Our QB was not very good at anything. When you hold the ball as long as he did, well no protection can hold up. With someone who will throw the dam- ball this group may look better. Whether they are or not will take a few quarters.

You can blame the past qb all you want, but you can’t ignore the fact he was running for his life a lot. Heard was awful in pass pro and campbell had exactly zero knees. It was even worse when they put Davis outside.

Really I'm looking forward to hearing Mike Keith call the games, haven't listened since John Ward retired. I know that wasn't the question.
Me, too.
It is a legit point. I haven't listened to the radio broadcast since the 1999 Fiesta Bowl. I do listen if I am in the car or doing something more important than watching football. I love Bob Kessling and I know he bleeds Pantone 151, but he was too even keeled and down the middle. He had a good thing going with his call of running through the T and opening kickoff. Tim Priest was always first rate with Bob. I loved when he got frustrated with the play calls and blocking during the seasons in the wilderness. He was speaking for me. It was hard to watch and hear. Pat Ryan was good too.

I was listening to the Music City Miracle on the Armed Forces Radio at my desk, so I know Mike Keith can handle a big moment and make it a VOLS moment.

I have said this for 2 seasons. We need a WR to step up and take control of some games. Tillman was hot in 21. Hyatt did it in 22.
We have had too few WRs step up the past 2 seasons. I remember Peerless Price's coming out party during a couple of games. Someone needs to be the Man. JA has to step up to the moment at the same time. I hope he is making the connections with his WRs and TEs. We also need to get the RBs more involved with the passing game in the flats.

It seems like screen passes would be effective when the Defense spreads to cover the WRs at the edge.

None of us know if Aquilar will even be the starting QB, let alone a bad one. Poor guy hasn't taken a meaningful snap at UT, and yet, he is a ******** QB?

Heupel is NOT on the hotseat. UT has the 11th best win percentage in CFB in the last 4 years, (.711), and 2 top 10 finishes in the last 3 years. Not to mention, despite what many on this board say, CJH is currently holding his own in recruiting.

You say he can't beat UF, UGA, and Bama? I'm assuming you mean this year, as UT has beaten UF AND Bama 2 of the last 3. UGA has only lost 5 games since CJH has been here. Only 2 of those were to teams not named Alabama. The same Alabama team you said was different without Saban.

Bama may not be the same team without Saban, but that doesn't mean they aren't good. They are absolutely loaded again this year, and their schedule is favorable. Bama could easily be in the SECCG in December.

Agree. If Hype thought Merk was the guy he would have simply brought in a lesser backup QB but he gave Joey a $1M NIL deal for a reason, to be the starter. Not saying Merk cannot beat him out but think Joey will have to totally tank in fall practice for that to happen.

This team has talent and just needs a few pieces to put it all together and those pieces are in house. Not the gloom and doom disaster some posters think.

Tim Priest was great, Bob was terrible

You‘re right, there are no drama queens in college football
