"The actions of some, should not be the label of all."

It is laughable to use the behavior of Ole Miss fans to justify any else's behavior. One should strive to be better than that and it is disappointing to realize that many Tennessee fans not only are not better than that but believe that this kind of behavior is justified.
I’m not trying to justify anything so let’s not get it twisted. I jsut wanna make sure everyone knows that this tho of stuff happens more often than people think. And also why is the media reporting this issues in 2019 differently than last night? Also I seen in the article where the writer tries to justify it as college kids will be kids. So what’s different about last night. By that statement from the writer kids will be kids.

That was NOT many UT fans. Get it straight. And yes - there is a bias against UT, dating back to Manning getting ripped in the Heisman voting and our fans voting displeasure over it. As if we have no right to voice our opinion.
If our fanbase is so bad, go pull for somebody else. Maybe an upstanding coach like Lame Train Kitty.

I do not pull for the fan base, I pull for the team because I have 3 decades invested in it and an education from the institution to boot. I am well within my rights as a fan to point out trashy behavior, and when hundreds, if not thousands, of pieces of trash are thrown on the field it does qualify as many fans. How pathetic it is to tell someone to change who the pull for just because you disagree. Even more pathetic is whining about a 'bias' when the media will always felate a winning team and criticize a loosing team.

Had players/coaches chose to confront the thugs in prayer while they were throwing projectiles, I would venture to guess that would have gotten some press. Some very positive press.

This is a nice counterpoint to things like that little sniveling whiner Pete Thamel’s hack job. Evidently we are the worst fans in America, because a bunch of stupid kids threw bottles on the field. This, within a week of when an NC State kicker received death threats, and an Alabama fan murdered another fan over the A&M game. In his haste to get his hate on with us, he completely neglected far more disturbing transgressions of other teams’ fans, and then referred back to that time we had the gall to be outraged when our old ousted athletic director tried to hire a guy associated with a convicted sex offender who molested children. Guess who had plenty to say then, too?
This is why no one respects journalism any more. I get that these are editorials, but it’s pretty self-serving to present the actions of a hundred idiots as representative of 100,000. Pure click bait and outrage pandering.

Even if they did have a bias against UT, the behavior of the fans just proved them right.
How about you go pull for a team that actually likes its fans to behave like petulant children who cannot control themselves. Oh wait, no team wants that. Some of you idiots think the university and team are secretly thanking you for "standing up to `the man`". You are lying to yourself.

On a humorous note @Sara Clark, you could have at least cropped LK out of the top of photo before posting. :)

I am encouraged to see many of these young men kneeling in public to make their faith known to others. Been a while since I've been to a game. Hopefully opposing teams still gather on the 50 after the battle to prayer together.

I think the most accurate description of who were throwing trash would be saying "the student section." As you can clearly see in the pic below. Generally the person who goes to work everyday and pays for a ticket wasn't doing that, I said generally. Sure you have an idiot peppered here and there. The student section needs to be moved from the opposing team side. Players taunt, young kids respond. During the horrid debacle, an Ole Miss player decided it was appropriate to do a dance. The dance was a simulation of having sex with a TN fan, then rubbing the stomach as if he had a belly ache, then dropping said fan on the ground and grinding them in the dirt with foot, others were yelling at students with vulgarity. They need to be separated. If nothing else, move them to the end zone, but get them away from the opposing team sidelines, it opens the door for trouble.

I thought about it, but I didn't want someone to say it didn't happen at this ballgame. Lol
BTW, they gather toward the end zone prior to every game and take a few minutes to pray.

Justify? Try it happens in college football. A lot of people have a lot invested. It happened, will happen again somewhere. Deal with it and let’s move on. It’s shocking that you think anybody is justifying anything.

I may be wrong but I think this pic was before the game started. But, still a positive that I agree with Sara will not be shown.
Yes, you are correct. Before every game they pray. As the field is clean, I surely didn't think anyone would take this as being an image of players running out on the field to pray. Goodness, the point went over the head of a few. "The media will show despicable actions, but they sure won't show you the good" as depicted in the picture.

It was most certainly before the game-or at most at halftime. Look in the background-you can see Lane walking out onto the field from the locker room. Pretty hard to miss the visor and sissy blue tennis shoes.

I agree. But I also want to know where was the national outcry form the media then?

When you got in trouble as a kid, did you always ask if the other kids got in trouble too? Or did you parents tell you that they didn't give a damn what the other kids were doing, they cared what YOU were doing.

It was before the game, several players gather and pray before every game. The media is quick to grab the "bad" because they make money with clicks...a bunch of players on their knees praying to our Lord, well, that doesn't generate a cash flow for them. That was the point of my posting the pic.
