I'm Sick to My Stomach

As nutty as that sounds, I actually thought about that last night. Both teams sure did shoot better on the other end.
tale of two halves.

i give a lot of credit to OSU stepping it up on the defensive end. there were no easy shots and no one is going to go 9-12 from behind the arc in each of the two halves.

the officiating, well, i wasn't happy with it all night, but all in all, i would not consider the officiating a factor in the game. i do think it was called fairly.

as for the 20 pt lead......i knew OSU had a run in 'em. and we didn't exactly help ourselves in the first 3 minutes, but OSU also made plays to get back in it. and even after they did, we still answered the bell most each and ever time.......that game was back and forth from the 14 minute mark in the 2nd to the end.

as homerish as this is going to sound, it is also the truth: We put ourselves in position to have a chance to win the game at the end. And that's really all you can ask.

this team, and program in general, looks to be at the beginning of something very special. and all i need to know is that i have NEVER been as excited about bball as i have been the past two years. So for that, i say thanks. at least i care now.

great season basketvols.:salute:

No he's not brainwashed yet...did you also not enroll in maturity 101 at UT? Grow Vol...be pleased with a very solid and unexpected season in basketball...or would you pull for the Taliban over the Tigers???

I didn't enroll in the "Cry me a river, I need a tissue" class at UT, either.

Why would anyone pull for the Taliban over little brother? That's like enjoying watching a kitten get kicked.

"Little Brother?" hilarious...now while that may be applicable in football (oh by the way do the numbers 21-17 remind you of anything?)...isn't it funny how the "Little Bro Cats" have a much later curfew than the Orange big bro??? Again man I have complimented the Vols of a really solid Basketball season...lose the "gteater than thou" attitude and give thew Tigers their due respect...whether you pull for them or not...:peace2:

root against Memphis.....is that the only thing you can do? take uout your frustrations on Cal? why not question your own coach not calling time outs to stop the OSU onslought of offense and defense...sure you are sad....probably rooted for T A&M too last night...were you afraid to lose to the Tigers in the Elite 8? Having a Vol wife and a kid in school at UT next year...and always being a true blue Tiger fan...I actually found myself rooting for the Vols last night...but something like is apparently way too mature for you my friend...

Actually, I was rooting for Memphis. I know we could beat them. :)

We do give Tigers respect. I don't know the all time W-L record against you in basketball, but I was just making fun of your "Misses Sensitivity" side. That's why I put a :p on the post. But some ladies can "take it" better than others, I guess.

I'll try not to give you the "gteater than thou" attitude from now on.

I never took "Maturity 101" in college, but I did finish 4 years of "Hate Memphis State" by living in the God-forsaken city. I have also taken a few "Coach Cal Is A Jerk" courses, the most recent of which included a little comment about how Memphis shouldn't even play UT, in favor of a more quality opponent. Bet that little idea sat well on the bus ride home after getting DRILLED in TBA.

As I've said before, the best thing that could happen to our wonderful state is for the little Southwest corner to break off and float down the Mississippi. Maybe it could lodge in South Mississippi where it would fit more appropriately.

Go Buckeyes. Shoot, I'll wear a Brutus mask Saturday night if I can find one.

After having some time to settle down and digest last nites collapse here is my feelings/opinions.

1. I was worried about the second half at halftime. We almost played to perfect for it to last.

2. This game was on a silver platter for us to win and we blew it. We jump out to a huge lead and Oden and Conley was in serouis foul trouble all game.

3. Sometimes we get a little to carried away with shooting the three ball.

4. Why in the world was Ramar taking the last shot? I heard we have a guy named Lofton that is pretty clutch. Driving coast to coast in 6 seconds and then trying to put up a floater against Oden is the worst play possiable. I think a half court shot by Lofton would have had a better chance.

It still stings alot but if there is something to take from this game is that we all for the most part didn't think we could be any serouis threat before the season started and we should have beaten one of the top three teams in the country twice this season. I can't wait until next season!

Fair enough. I'll see your 21-17 and raise you a 1-20.

Word. OSU deserves some cred for slowing the game down, drawing contact, getting to the line, and knocking down FT's. This KILLED us.

When the pace was up, things were money. As soon as Conley drew his second trip to the line down 9, I started to worry.

As for the other stuff, VIA, I feel your pain. A little more icing on this cake of a season would have been grand.

I plan on consoling myself by rooting against Memphis tomorrow night.

Eff you, coach Cal.
Ya got your buckeye in your pocket and your crimson and gray jersey cleaned and pressed?

I've said it before in other threads, and I'll reiterate here: I can't remember the last time I've been this drained and devastated after a UT loss. Football, basketball, tiddlywinks, whatever.

I don't blame the officiating. Anyone remember the 3rd or 4th foul on Oden, where he barely grazed Tabb, and Tabb flopped backward in an Oscar-caliber performance? That was a horrible call in our favor. There were several horrible calls in the game, but they were pretty evenly distributed.

The whole thing about Lofton not getting to the line: if you don't penetrate, you're not going to get those calls. All Ohio State did in the second hafl was attack the basket, get to the rim, and get fouled. Maybe a few of those fouls were iffy, but still, if you don't drive and penetrate, you're not going to shoot free throws.

On the other hand, I liked the play at the end. Chism apparently was supposed to set a screen to get Oden out of the play so Ramar would have an easier path to the basket. If this happens, the odds are very good that he makes the shot, or gets fouled, or makes the shot AND gets fouled. We all know that if CBP had called timeout to get up a play for Lofton, tOSU would have been ready for it. As great as Lofton is, any look he would have gotten would have been marginal at best.

The free throw shooting just kills me, though. Still. Kills. Me.
