I had my own game last night so I didn't see the game. However UK's offense is designed to get to the free throw line.
The dribble-drive motion is an attacking offense that puts constant pressure on the defense and is designed to get one of three things: free throws, layups or a three. It is based on Vance Walber's points per possession with free throws the highest at 1.4 and layups and threes tied at 1.2. Midrange shots are under 1.

This also puts pressure IMO on the refs because when you drive there usually contact.

Ask Marcus Camby, Dajuan Wagner, and Derrick Rose about this. I just started reading on the whole Worldwide Wes thing, and I am intrigued/disgusted. It appears that Calipari is nothing more than a sports agent disguised as a coach...

This is why I ban most college basketball from my life now. World Wide Wes is a sports agent bottom line. John Calapari is a pimp. Both, thats BOTH of his final four appearances and his finals appearance have been vacated by the school as mandated by the NCAA for cheating, and yet ESPN and every other college basketball follower worships this guy like he can really coach or something

Then all we get is how great John Wall is and no one stops to wonder who's ACT score he's playing with. The NCAA, SEC, and ESPN are bloodsucking businessmen with 0, and thats a big fat 0 concern for these young men, their lives, or their families. Call it conspiracy if you want but it certainly is criminal, and disgusting, and deplorable, Mike Slime should be ashamed of himself and do the right thing. (suicide).

The last two Kentucky games are the most biased called games I have ever seen...seriously.
I taped both games and disected each one and clearly saw the "biased calls".
Or, is the game getting so fast for the refs that they call anything and since Kentucky is two in the nation they get the calls.
Also, is it time for some sort of replay system.
Just venting some thoughts, but if this is the way it continues, then no one has a chance but Kentucky in the SEC.:cray:
GO VOLS!

Wouldn't surprise me if the SEC was having its basketball officials protect the top of the league like they did in football.

Game should have never gone to OT. The disparity in the way the game was called was obvious. I'm not going to say that any particular call should have been made or shouldn't have... but either way it should have been called both ways. There were several very obvious charges that went UK's way. UK got away with alot of body contact on their blocks... which is fine except MSU didn't.

Very poorly called game. I think officials get star struck by big name schools with high rankings. UNC used to get the same treatment in the ACC... that's one of the reasons why I grew up in NC absolutely hating them.

Yeah, it was the officials who rendered State unable to throw it in the ocean from the time they went up 65-60 til the end of regulation.

Hat, I completely agree. Even with bad officiating, you can always point at something the loosing team did in a close game that could have helped them overcome bad calls.

However, do you not think the dynamic of the game changed after MSU hit that three that put them behind 77-75? The previous possession was when Wall goaltended on the layup.

I don't think there was too much of a discrepancy in the officiating to decide the game, but I do think the missed goal tending on Wall and the 4th and 5th fouls called on Varnado were a little bit ridiculous.

A bad or missed call affects more than just that one play. With Varnado out, Cousins and Patterson can become even more dominate in the paint. The missed goal tending call also resulted in a foul on Miss St. on the rebound sending Cousins to the line where he made one of two ft's. That is a three point swing plus a momentum shift. As you saw in this game and the UT v. UK game when bledsoe hit the two threes.
Cousins is allowed to manhandle the defense to gain position for shots and boards on every possession. That affects the whole game not just one possession.

Let's also not forget... It's a business, it's not college basketball that the SEC or ESPN truly care about. I hate to be that cold about it, but we're talking millions and millions of dollars. TV ads, apparel sales, sponsorship, nike v adidas... millions and millions of dollars

Exactly. Anyone who doesn't understand this doesn't get it. The game of College Basketball and Football have been transformed from the profile of Under dog and Cinderalla stories to whichever the schools who create the most revenue get the best deals and first dibs on everything.

So much for the people who thought that talent would be spread across the nation since the kids don't care about tradition. The "tradition" rich schools have found a way to keep that top talent coming to their program just like any top 100 firm will convince the top talent to stay with their business. When's the last time you've seen someone turn down a job offer to Google to take a job at Melcooper Consulting?

Mississippi St. had a chance to win it at the end of regulation and their "best player" jacked up an idiotic three. Regardless of the officiating, they made their bed.

I don't know if everyone is aware, but this loss for Miss. St. is not only a big loss for them, but it's actually a big loss for us. I mean think about it, if the SEC were to stay as it is right now in the standings, we'd be playing LSU in round one, then would play Miss St., and to me I believe we would have a much better chance of losing to Miss. St. than we would have against Arkansas, which is whom we would have played if Miss. St. had won this game. I know the season is far from over the the standings could change, but all I'm saying is if we finish where we are in the East, we want Miss. St. to finish in 1st in the West so that they are in the opposite bracket of the SEC tourney as us.

There's several games left to be played. Ole Miss, MSU, and Ark are all within a game of each other. And we need to win some games before we can act like the 3rd seed is a lock for us.

espn is heavily invested in the SEC. I look for more of this ----not less. Big matchups are the bottom line----Top ranked teams on every national broadcast.

I wonder why that is? I mean what does it benefit anyone if Kentucky wins the national championship or Harvard?

Because its a well known fact that our University sends out cashier checks to all the officials who made calls in our favor, in the amount of 10% of all revenue generated by national championship apparel.

This is a bonus on top of the annual golf scramble we hold for referee's where we pass out brown bags of cash on each tee-box.

Wait are you talking about recruits or refs right now?
