there are 4 things that just piss me off right now.

1. Erik Ainge. Rasputinvol...........i'll only say this, i hope you take no satisfaction in being right. the two picks were UNFORGIVEABLE. i hate it for EA. but the truth is, those were two awful throws in the 4th qtr of the SEC title game. we had our chance. and we blew it.
2. Daniel Lincoln, you're no Jeff Hall. make your fg's i think the play calling is a little different the rest of the way.
3. David Cutcliffe. i'm all for running the ball. i'm all for throwing the ball. i think there were points in the game where your play calling was phenominal. but the majority of the time, our 1st down play calling was awful. we time after time set up 2nd and long which more times than not led to 3rd and long. it was feast or famine on 1st down. either we got another 1st down or we were in 2nd and 10. i can honestly only recall one 2nd and short (less than 3 yards) the entire game.
4. 3rd down defesne. we did much better in the 2nd half, but there was a point where LSU was 9/15 on 3rd down. that's ridiculous.

now to the positive. Eric Berry is everything he's hyped up to be.. Jerrod Mayo left it all on the field. i thin the defense, on the whole played relatively well.....after all they only gave up 14 points. Austin Rogers......the ONLY TIHNG YOU CAN DO is catch the ball, yet you had a couple of drops tonight that were HUGE. i can't tell you how many times after someone made a play i said "true freshman". that's a good thing. Gerald Jones, Danarius moore, Dennis Rogan, Eric Berry, all had solid contributions to this team and this game.

sadly though, this game unfortunatley came down to two things.........poor qb play and missed fg's.

i'm sure by tomorrow this will be buried behind 3 pages of pissed off vol fans, but i think on the whole as i watch the game culminate in to what it wound up being.....daniel lincoln and erik ainge cost us the game. i hate to even say that, but i cant' watch it and say otherwise.

what a ride. i'm glad we made it to the game to begin with, but to lose it the way we did........................................................well let's just say i probably won't sleep very well tonight.

i feel the worst for the players. it was right there.

sigh, deep breath, shake of the head...........another Newcastle................shocker.

man this sucks.

And almost all of them were 3rd and over 4 or 5 yards.

the 3rd and 17 got me. as good as our d played on 1st and 2nd down most of the night to not get off the feild more often was extremely frustrating.

Berry and Mayo represent the type of TN football that I saw in the late 60's....I really look forward to seeing them both next year! Great job guys!

What sucks is that we were in all 3 games and screwed it away at the end.

Jake, I hope you sleep like baby. Being one of the more objective personalities on this board you deserve it.

To the three pages to come...:toast:

01 was shock and awe.

04 was a "good showing".

07 was the one that got away.

therefore 07 sucks the worst.

thanks. but i'm pretty upset about this one.

i let myself believe. damnit.

and the funny thing is, i don't blame the coaches, acutally i think they had us pretty well prepared, the game plan overall was working.

what killed us was we had no play makers when it became crunch time. the one guy i had let myself believe that would come thrue in the clutch failed miserabley.

that's what has me the most upset. and i'm not mad at him, i really hate it for him. his legacy will be "what might have been", and rightfully so.

Ok, the missed 30 yarder was bad but I don't think you can put to much blame on him for the 51 yarder which had the distance.

honestly, i don't blame Fulmer. as the game played on it played in to his hands. we simplay showed the lack of playmakers on offense to seal the deal.

we're left with the questions.......what if we dont' throw the two INT's......what if we dont' miss the two fg's....we got coached in to position to actually win the game. we did not make the plays.
