genimen, about 10-15 years ago UT redid the field. i believe it was from turf to grass? i can't quite remember. but i heard that they were selling squares of the field, to fans, for memorabilia. does anyone know if that is true or not, and if they have ever done anything similar, since then? i'm not sure when, and if they ever resod the field, but i would love to have a chunk of our sacred battleground, since i can't afford to bid on a '98 championship ring. any input is appreciated.

we switched from turf to grass I believe in between the '94 and '95 seasons off the top of my head. as for selling them I have no idea. You could do what my uncle did and when fans storm the field...take a chunk of it for yourself.

I believe the TYPE of grass you are looking for had a name it was called DOUG'S RUG one of the first astro turf's good luck in finding that TYPE of grass.

good find though. It says reserve wasn't met...doesn't that mean they will prob try and resale?

Possible, could have sold it to the person anyways or could have tried to sell it again, or just kept it. It was not relisted to my knowledge as I have it in my watch list and it would have notified me if relisted.

My Dad purchased a piece of the field. I think he paid $500 for a 6"x6" square. It was early to mid 90's I believe not for sure on the year?

Thanks KC....they sold bigger squares too, and I'm sure people paid whatever the asking price was!
