I'm hearing great things about Dooley

I think Hinshaw will be a good QB coach if that's going to be his post. He's got game experience and had a great run while he was in college. I asked a buddy of mine that went to UCF in the mid 90's if he heard of him, and he said absolutely. He said the guy could flat out play. Plus, the guy's highly educated, which I think would add organization and professionalism. I think he will be a great mentor to Tyler Bray especially. Speaking of... Has anybody seen him? I mean has he gained any weight? We need this guy looking like Mallott from Arkansas!

From all indications, he has been on the Job 1 week and we have gotten 1 commitment and no Defensive coordinator.

:dunno: But as long as everyone is impressed..and feels comfortable..

How many posts are you going to put this on?????? We get it your not impressed so no need to put it in every post!!!!!:mf_surrender:

I think most people forgot to take them.

Tonight does seem to be a particularly bad night. Volnation needs a door greeter to hand out Xanax and Prozac as soon as you log in cause if you ain't mad and pissy when you get here, you will be before you leave.

My friends that go to UT say he is skinny as a rail and doesn't look any bigger than what he was in his highlight videos. But I don't think they have even starting working out yet, but I'm not sure about that. Get him a good workout program and put him on a high calorie and protein diet, he will get considerably bigger over time.

Dude, I don't know you...but you sir are an a$$!! I have yet to see you post anything but negativity!!

I bet you want Fulmer back too...

What do you expect a guy to do in one week beside go and meet and greet prospects, their families and their coaches?? They need to make some kind of initial contacts first and foremost. Then CDD has to try and put a staff together in between all those visits. All the while CLK & YawYaw, contrary to their initial claims, seem to be mounting an all out assault on UT recruits, coaches & all things orange. Not a simple task for any coach

Let Dooley do what he said he'd do...Hit the recruiting trail and do his best to put together some sort of respectable class and then put together a staff that works well together. Team chemistry is as important, if not more important for the coaching staff as it is the actual team. Let him put together a cohesive staff, that can function like a well oiled machine, rife with energetic, hungry, young up-and-comers supplemented with some needed experienced guys.

The DC from the 0-16 Detroit Lions of 2008 is a strong possibility. This staff keeps getting better and better a no name coach hired today and now this potential clown.

Don't it make you feel all warm and fuzzy and secure inside that these coaches are what is being considered for your beloved Vols.

What "Big Name" coaches would you suggest we run out and get?? Once you think about that, now think about ones that won't run off for the next "big" opportunity at a flourishing program or back to the NFL

I think CLK really altered all of our expectations as far as coaching staffs go, so I get where you're coming from. But think about it...where did this fascination with an all star staff and all star recruiters begin??

Look at who was at UT under CPF....Larry Slade, Steve Caldwell, Greg Adkins, Dan Brooks, Matt Luke, David Cutcliffe, Trooper Taylor. Now was that was an All Star staff with All Star recruiters when they got here?? - Not even close. most of that staff came from lesser known programs. Cutcliffe before he caught on at UT was a high school coach for pete's sake. In fact, only Slade had any real success on his resume before coming to K-ville.

See CLK and Yaw Yaw didn't believe that recruits would come to TN for its tradition ,its "brand name"...he tried to make UT the USC of the east and removed many of the posters and images of UT's glory days and replaced them with USC success stories. He thought he needed to sell recruits on the ALL STAR Coaches.

Name me one other school that does that...I'll wait. Saban?? Meyers?? Paterno?? Mack Brown?? Even Pete Carroll never did that. We all came to know some of the names of their assistants as they did well, they never sold the public on their staff....they sell their program and the school

Meyer brought many assistants from Bowling Green to Utah and then to FL. Before anyone else says Utah better than Memphis, MTSU, etc....My family lives there and until U. Meyer got there, you need to go back to the 60's and the big sky conference to find a good Ute team.

Point is, give it a shot. Our coaches don't need to be from Tennessee, or a UT alum, or even very well known. Many coaches are well thought of within coaching circles and other coaches know their ability - just us folks following our team never payed attention to up and comers at smaller programs who just might be the next Saban, or Paterno....

Put the negativity away, stop pining for Fulmer or coaches past, take a deep breathe and do all you can to support the future of our beloved university.

Let anyone who questioned Kiffin a few weeks ago...they'd get mobbed by the Orange Kool-Aid drinking pom-pom squad here. Same goes with Fulmer right before he was fired..so, that should make you girls feel really RIGHT...right about now, shouldn't it?

Dude you're good at spewing the negative crap, yet you offer no positive alternatives, no other options. Any fool can tear a thing down, takes a man to build it up. So for all the "girls" here...lets see some positive ideas from the "man" - thats right I'm questioning your "manhood"...easy to call everyone girls, its another to prove you got the sack to build up team - tell us oh great and insightful one what hires you would make and how you would run the UT athletic dept....

Guys and gals just chill out. The Vols got shafted by a coach that made us believe in him. We all knew he had faults but chose to ignore them. We thought we had a mini Spurrier that would lead us to the top, but instead he bolted just when he had the chance to prove himself. We got burned, heck the whole state got burned. True TN fans know that winning takes hard work and time. Be patient. Give this old southern boy Dooley a chance. He is fighting an uphill battle right now and i would hate to take on his task. Give him some time. This man will make us proud of our flagship university.

Here Here! We all need to take in some Tennessee delights (Tennessee Pride Sausage, Jack Daniels, RC Cola, Moonpies, etc. ... Whatever works) and come back later. We'll be right as rain, and in good spirits ready to defend our program! :eek:k:

His father said he was on the debate team at college and is an attorney. No question he's a smooth talker.

I think Leach, Edsall, or Malzahn would have taken the job and have had more success in the past.

Leach? A guy who is so dumb or arrogant that he let a 20 yr old punk punch his buttons and got himself fired? Really? The last thing tenn needed right now is another guy who puts his ego before the program. He is in the process of suing his last school.

Malzahn is certainly extremely innovative and has had success with his offense. But he has exactly 0 experience as a head coach. He has never put together a staff. My other concern is that while his offense is creative, he hasn't ever stayed anywhere more than a year or two. When a defense sees something for the first time or sees it very infrequently it can and usually does give them fits. But give a good dc a year of film and time to prepare and then see how effective it is. Auburns offense seemed to fade down the stretch. I don't know the reason for that, but very well could be because once coaches got enough tape on what he was doing, that nutralized his schematic advantage.

I know we would all be happier if we had gotten a coach with more of a track record, but alot of the more experienced names people throw out were just not good candidates. It's easy to say we want more experience, but alot tougher to come up with names for these experienced candidates.
