If You Support Derek Dooley....

You mean beating Ole Miss, Vanderbilt, Kentucky, and a 4-8 Big East team hasn't convinced you that Dooley is the second coming of Bear Bryant? Turn in your fan card now.

And I'm betting that you wont say a word if UT beats Florida. Nowhere to be found I'm guessing.

He is the definition of negavol... Hell I'd even venture to say an all around sour puss

Pre-mature bump.

A little early for people hoping to prove wrong the anti-Dooley crowd. We are 2-0 because of Montana and Cincy. I'm a Dooley supporter, but it's still too early to try and prove people wrong.

I would have supported anyone from the stands to get Fulmer gone. Personally, I liked Kiffin with the exception of him being a little too flamboyant, and the unforgiveable quick exit to USC. Moving on though, Dooley is a perfect hire, no-nonsense guy, yet still has a sense of humor, which helps. He has IMO a great staff and this program is only going to get better. I'd love to be even more optimistic but we still need at least one or two more recruiting classes to be where we need to be. Having said that, these coaches will get the most out of the talent we have I'm sure. If we hand the Gators a decent butt-whipping, then the SEC east will really be wide-open. The only other games I'm concerned about is Bama, LSU, and Arkansas; think the rest are ours to lose.

Maybe you should have waited to bump this thread until AFTER he beats a ranked team, or a big rival or even a team with a winning record. Until then the jury is still very much out. Not saying he's doing a horrible job, just that he still has a long way to go to make this a successful hire.

If he loses to Florida by 20, this thread has a chance to be epic. Like, codyg10 Mitch Mustang epic.

Here's the good news about Derek Dooley. He's not Mike DeBose, Ron Zook (even though he left a ton of talent at Florida), or Ray Goof. He's not going to completely fail. We aren't going to have a 4-8 season with him at the helm. We aren't going to have a class outside the top 30. So, even if he can't win championships, he leaves the next guy a good program. That is a plus in my book considering where we were.

I like that he is a good fit wth his personality, he is mentaly tough, and he is young enough to bring that energy to the prgoram!!! He seemed to grow into the job over the last year. He has the potential to be here for a long time. As long as he wins 10 games consitently.

Exactly, He is what this program needed at the time. He could even prove to be a legend (time will tell) but he fit great for the situation Tennessee was in at the time of his arrival.

Well, his top 35 prediction wasn't even close, but DD has yet to get a top 10 class and likely will end up just outside the top 10 again this year. Alabama and UF are outrecruiting us again this year and will continue to widen their talent gap which is a concern. We need to take advantage of UF this year while they are dealing with a coaching change and playing a lot of young players, they'll be right back to their old selves in a year or two.

Class rankings according to Rivals:
2010: #9

I, too, worried about our recruiting situation. However, if you look at our team and what he is recruiting it makes since. He is piecing the team together quit nicely in my opinion. Could we use some big-time recruits, sure... but people need to remember stars are misleading.. Terrence Cody was only 3 stars when Bama signed him and if I remember correctly he did pretty well.

We are currently #13 with only 16 players and Dooley closes strong. Should easily have a top 10 class this year.

I want Dooley to succeed. Not for the sake of UT, but because I think the world of Coach Dooley. For the sake of Dooley. I am a fan. A VOL fan. And a Dooley fan. I am proud of our program, and I am proud of Dooley.

:hi:

CDD has an aurora of confusion about him that is much like voodoo-esk concoctions of mosquito repellent. I enjoy his diversion by way of confusion during his interview sessions. It leaves a layer of subjectivity that only inspires hope through higher donations from wealthy alums.

CDD is doing pretty good with a program that was in disarray...everything I have seen him do has been done with integrity and class...I still think that those 2 words mean something to recruits and fans alike!
