I for one support this decision. I don't understand why everybody says this is a bad hire. Was Lane Kiffin a good hire going off his record? Hell no.

Did you know he is the son of of legendary University of Georgia head football coach and athletic director Vince Dooley?

Did you know he was the recruiting coordinator for Nick Saban at LSU, which landed 2 number 1 classes in his time.

Everybody around here seems to hate Saban, but will admit he is an awesome coach! Well if Nick Saban likes this guy enough to have him on his staff (LSU to Miami) for 6 years then he's good enough for me.

I just wanted to start this thread so when he proves all of you nay sayers wrong we can look back at who supported this hire!

Maybe you should have waited to bump this thread until AFTER he beats a ranked team, or a big rival or even a team with a winning record. Until then the jury is still very much out. Not saying he's doing a horrible job, just that he still has a long way to go to make this a successful hire.

he has fans excited going into Florida week for the first time in awhile..

even if we lose, that's a big step up from years past.. shows you he has us on the way up instead of the downward spiral we have been in...

You mean beating Ole Miss, Vanderbilt, Kentucky, and a 4-8 Big East team hasn't convinced you that Dooley is the second coming of Bear Bryant? Turn in your fan card now.

I agree. However, I just thought it was silly for the OP to bump this thread as if DD has proven all his doubters wrong already. He's won every game he was supposed to win, and lost every game he was supposed to lose. The jury is still very much out at this point. A win this weekend would be a huge step forward without a doubt.

Well, his top 35 prediction wasn't even close, but DD has yet to get a top 10 class and likely will end up just outside the top 10 again this year. Alabama and UF are outrecruiting us again this year and will continue to widen their talent gap which is a concern. We need to take advantage of UF this year while they are dealing with a coaching change and playing a lot of young players, they'll be right back to their old selves in a year or two.

Yeah, I meant to highlight the tops 35 part. I still think we have a top 10 class with in the next few years. (that is if we beat a couple of ranked teams)

If we don't AT LEAST beat a couple ranked teams DD won't be here for a "few years" to get that top 10 class.

I second that and honestly believe he will. Missed a couple chances last year and we are far improved in less than a calendar year. I like the direction.

Even if he were to leave tommorrow, there's no questioning that he would be leaving things better than he found them. I was just saying that hypothetically, if the end of next season rolls around and he still hasn't at least beat a ranked team or two, I doubt he would be getting a 4th year here in Knoxville.

This post is on point! I doubted the Dooley hire at first, but am now a huge fan of his and I feel that he has us going in the right direction as well.

I have been a Volunteer fan all my life and will be forever. My blood runs ORANGE and will if we are 0 and 11 or 11 and 0. I think I have posted maybe one time since I have been a member. I can't stand it anymore, I have to say we have some of the most negative fans in the country. All many of our fans want to talk is gloom and doom. Either get on the wagon and support our coach and our team or go root for some other team because we don't need you! Coach Dooley is doing a GREAT JOB and will get Tennessee back to the top.
