If You Support Derek Dooley....

Well i'll take him over Cut any day of the week. Cut was going to be a step backward. But at least this guy is young and has potential. Is he ready for UT? I don't know.

I agree.

Would not be a "Splash" name but from what I have read so far on him, he has been around some good times in the SEC under Saban at LSU. Even recruiting co. for a bit with them during his hay day.

I also read a quote from a former player at LSU Addai that had good things to say about him.

Reading his bio on the Tech website, he has done alot for the program in a short time. I realize his W/L was not the best but improvement was seen. (Kiffin didn't exactly have a great record before coming here)

I have always been proud to be a Volunteer fan until right now. My reason for disappointment is not our coaching decision. It is the 100s of "fans" that say they will not support the Vols if Dooley is the coach.

When I became a sports fan, my father taught me that we support our teams through thick and thin. We may dispute some decisions, but we always stay committed to our teams. All of you "Volunteer faithful" are no better than Lane Kiffin if you chose to jump ship now.

I am a Volunteer. I bleed orange. I will support Derek Dooley if he is our coach.

Unfortunately Mike Hamilton didn't have much time to get a new coach in place. I'm willing to back Coach Dooley 100%, but only time will tell. Evidently, he's a great recruiter and we'll see in the next few weeks if he can keep most of the recruits that are committed and maybe get some new ones. With a law degree, he's a very intelligent young coach and was recomended by Will Muschamp. If Nick Saban liked him, he must be doing something right. Nothing has been finalized so far. I really hope Kippy Brown and some of the other assistants are retained. Some coaches on Sabans staff have already said, hiring Coach Dooley scares them more than most of the other candidates that were being considered. Mike Hamilton is trying to work out the fine points of the contract at this time.

hey if he's willing to "give his all for tennessee". Then he's got my support. Give the man a chance if he's willing to take it the way the program is right now, then i'll back him. He'll prove the doubters wrong, gotta good feeling with this guy. just need to get rid of hamilton and get fulmer in there to help this young coach out. Tennessee needs to come together right now, instead of being torn apart.

are you insane? Help him do what?
-have lazy a$$ practices
-recruit complete morons
-hang on to the wrong assistans way too long

this is a terrible idea, and your freedom should be taken away for even thinking such.

Do you not remember fulmer? Do you not? We fired that fat idiot because he is awful. Awful. Did anyone else jump at hiring him in the last two years? No one did. Because he is an overweight piece of garbage that doesn't belong anywhere near any football team.

Crickets indeed....

Notice how no one is following you? It's because we all have a brain and don't follow blindly to anything that is placed in front of us.

This is a nightmare that lasts for 10 years. This idiot went to one bowl game in one of the most pathetic conferences in the history of college football. If he were so damn good, why didn't he stick with Saban and go to Bama? Exactly, this idiot isn't worth it.

"But, you're not paying attention, he had 2 good recruiting classes at LSU"....That's what Saban brings, not this idiot. Where were his classes ranked when HE was HC? Exactly.

Stop telling people how to feel, and for God's sakes quit being such a blind sheep. It's OK to have an opinion. Good Lord.

How many people do you think want to go to Ruston, Louisiana?

Exactly.

Leave please, fairweather fans.

I'll back whoever we bring in. I was concerned at first, but I think this guy can be solid. We will see.

I'm not here to bash. I'm willing to give the guy a chance. Sadly, we'll end up going from a top 5 recruiting class to top 35 if we're lucky. I don't know if Dooley can ever even bring in a top 10 class to UT, and that's what it takes to win consistently in the SEC.

News Flash - He brought a #1 recruiting class to LSU in 2001 and 2003.

I see a lot of comments about him being a UGA man. Who do have that would be a UT man on our board of candidates? That's right, none. There have been a lot of legends who coached in the SEC who were alumni from other SEC schools. In fact, I think his father was actually an alumni from a different SEC school. I personally do not want any non-SEC candidates, especially from the West coast (they will always be homesick and never love the south).

Learn from your mistakes people! Good God. Hire Fulmer to help with the team, that is the most insanely pathetic idea I have ever heard. Keep Fulmer the hell away from this football team. You saw what 1 year away from Fulmer can do. Recruiting was better and our QB wasn't getting death threats. Hell, he has a shot at the NFL now. THE NFL!!! Do you remember what it was like under Fulmer? How do you people function in society? How? Go have your brains checked. This isn't 1998. Get over it.

Chill out, chief.

Mr. Negative. I hope you get out and stay out, we don't need this sort of attitude around Tennessee.

Go be a Vandy fan, Nashvegas.

That pretty much sums up my thoughts on him too.

Yeas I remember Fulmer, and your attitude is the kind I'm talking about that's bringing all the negativity into TN. Your freedoms should be taken away for dogging a man that has dedicated his life to UT. Nothing else to say to you. But go ahead and respond I think you're in the wrong thread though this is for support not your piss poor attitude.

Was there a complete thought in any of that drivel that you just typed?

Yeah.

Here's a news flash for you, Saban was there. Saban is still bringing in #1 recruiting classes, and he isn't in the top 40.

Yeah, it was all him.

It was not all him. In case you haven't noticed Saban is not the most personable guy in the world. He needs people to help him deal with people.

"Derek is a very articulate, bright guy,"

"He's a great coach and a hard-working guy. He was always a very good recruiter in college, which I think is paramount if you're going to have success as a college coach. I think he has all the right ingredients to be successful as a head coach."

By the way, quotes from Saban...

It is what it is. I have nothing against pulling for the underdog. I just hope it works out.

*While stepping on a cricket*

When I see a press conference, I am going to support whomever they hire. (Cutcliff would hurt though)
