If you became the HC @ UT for the rest of the season..
I'd announce, the much needed stop to what has been going on. Every position is up for grabs. Seniority means nothing as of today, you want to be a starter, you will have to prove you deserve the job.
Coaching staff, your jobs are on the line, make no mistake about it, no more coddling and life coaching, this is football, if hard nosed, no BS training "ain't you style" turn in your resignation, no hard feelings, hell, I'll even drive you to the airport.
I'd apologize to the Fans, yes I would, I'd promise that I would lead by example, I'd be the first in and last out, if I wasn't great at something, I'd admit it, but I'd damn sure get someone that was.
Strength and conditioning is everything in sports-and of the highest importance in contact sports, I'd spend some time everyday looking over my S&C coaches shoulder, finding out what's going wrong.
My D would actually make contact with my O during practice. We'd boil our play book down-fast-to those plays we're good at, and build from there.
I'd tell the fans, "I've taken over a funeral, but we're stopping what has been acceptable for far too long, we will have a bowl game next year, or I will turn in my resignation to the AD"
Finally, I'd tell all those HS seniors, if you are looking for a Football Program, that will lead you to a professional career, UT, is looking for you, but we will not sing you to sleep at night, you had better be ready to give 100% to the program-if you do, the program will give you 1000% in return. UT is going back on top, if you want to be part of the crew that's responsible, we'd like your commitment.
Then I'd go to work.
