If we had a 10-3 record who thinks we get in the CFP?

The playoff committee has said for over a year that they would not punish the loser of the SECCG.

So if we were 10-2 and lost the SECCG, yes, we would be in. This isn’t a conspiracy

Also, use spell check before insulting people in the future. That way we will know what you “ment”
Much as I hate to say it, ND is playing better than almost anyone in the country. They got SCREWED!!!!

They flipped them from the 1 seed to the 2 seed. That’s not the same as leaving them out
Still a form of punishment. If you can't get punished for losing your conference championship game, then they should still be number one. If you can get punished, getting SPANKED in your championship game should matter.

(Also, was responding specifically to eastTNvol6240 saying "the committee set precedent last year to not punish teams losing a title game". Your response is a different discussion.)

Bama only team that will ever get in with 3 losses without winning there conference bs, nd should have gotten there spot and bama sent home

They would've used a similar contradicting argument to leave them out.
Committee: "bama has a quality win against tenn"
Also committee: "well vandy doesnt have a quality win against tenn because they beat them so bad they went unranked."
They wouldn't have dropped vandy out but they'd give bama the vandy game as a quality win but tenn "well just beat barely ranked vandy"

Yes but they haven’t yet excluded a team for a loss in a conference title game. See SMU last year. Had bama dropped a spot (and it would be been much deserved) but remained in the field I don’t believe they would have complained.
What I find humorous was how much crying Bama did over not jumping SMU last year.

To be fair, though, last year was the first year of the current system so there's not exactly been a long standing precedent for anything with the 12 team playoff. An interesting parallel is from the 2017 season. Auburn went to the SECCG at 10-2 and had beaten #1 Georgia(40-17) then #1 Alabama(26-14) within two weeks of each other. They had several players out for the SECCG due to injury, lost 28-7 to Georgia and was knocked out of the playoffs in favor of Alabama, who sat home during Championship weekend. Alabama went on to win the natty.

Well, that's a different discussion. If you had said originally "the committee made it clear than a team couldn't get knocked out for a loss in a conference title game" I never would have commented. Quite different from "a team wouldn't be punished."
However, it really seems what they've established is "conference title games matter...except when they don't."

No, we would most definitely not have gotten in. The most humorous thing is, Bama, at 10-2 would still have gotten in over us had we played the SECCG and lost. That’s just the way it is.
If a team in SEC were considered to be “in” the playoffs before the sec championship game, generally, they cannot lose their way out of the playoffs… to an extreme the other way, Duke is ACC champ and not sniffing the playoffs.

I ment 10-3 whatever.. Just answer the question of the thread.
It's a BS question---the only way we could be 10-3 is to finish the season at 10--2 and lose to someone in the conference championship game. The playoff committee has said they wouldn't punish the loser of championship games with that record.

I dont hate Bama just dont know how they got in and others here dont see it either..If they beat Georgia then it would have been different. The Sec Championship doesnt mean nothing why play the game?
You play the game because it is for the SEC Championship, which is the second biggest championship an SEC team can win other than the National Championship.

CFP committee so far has a history of not punishing teams who competed in a conference championship game. BYU is sort of the exception, but they weren't technically in the playoffs at number 11 given the 5 conference winner rule.

It would have been an embarrassment and a PR nightmare if the CFP did not select even 1 ACC team, particularly when Miami and ND had the same record but Miami had the H2H. That is why Miami jumped ND in the final rankings despite ND being ranked ahead of them every week the last 6 weeks. If Virginia had won on Saturday, then VA is in and Miami is out. Then you have to make a decision between ND and BYU for the last spot.

So yes, had we made the SECCG as the 10th ranked team with 2 losses and lost (even by a blow out) we would still have made the playoffs this year.

That isn't what he meant by "punished" and you know it.

Simple why Bama got in even with three losses. They are going to draw in a lot of money and ratings, that's why. It's not about what is fair and what isn't. They're putting in the Tide because they are going to be a huge draw for the playoffs. People are going to tune in, and their fans are going to buy up tickets and, of course, Oklahoma will have more fans since it's going to be in Norman, there will be a lot of Bama fans in the stands as well.
