If we are going to face facts, we need to admit that

Are you a Tennessee fan?
Fan, alum, donor, season ticket holder, all of the above.

I also like to engage in intelligent, educated football discussion based on observations, trends, statistics, and other facts when forming an opinion.

There are plenty of sunshine pumpers on the board who will sing the praises of our team and coaching staff 100% of the time and blame every loss or close game on the officials or some sort of conspiracy instead of giving other teams credit or pointing out our own shortcomings. I’m not one of them.

I understand your need to criticize, but you should be aware that it rarely help things get better, and sometimes it may help things get worse, especially in this times of instant access to everything on the internet.

I disagree. He is a few hard choices away from being a championship coach. He has all the skill set. Just needs to place winning over friendship.

Ryan Day is no better a HC than him. Day just made a business decision with a few coaches and it saved his job and won him a natty.
He ain't firing anyone. Thats what will keep him from getting to where we all want him to be.

What did I say that was critical and not fact? Please enlighten me.

Heupel hasn’t gone into a hostile road environment as an underdog at Tennessee and emerged victorious, let alone vs a top ten team, since he’s been here. I won’t believe it will happen until I see it happen.

Day has the highest winning percentage of all time.

Easy too do in big 10 at OSU.

Gets owned by Michigan.

He won last year after dropping a major egg against Mich at home because the players had a team meeting and forced his hand to call a different game or they were sitting out for the draft and this isn’t speculation this is straight from a few players mouths.

20 plus million play payroll will win you a lot of games against northwestern, Nebraska, and Maryland.

Good thing your opinion is just that...meanwhile our team continues to win and is tied for 2nd in the SEC...

we are exactly where most thought we would be at this point pre-season

That last line is true and easily forgotten. Always helpful when frustrated to go back to pre season expectations. If you had told me we would be 5-1 heading to Bama I would be pretty happy about that

If it’s so easy to do in the Big 10, why hasn’t anyone else done it?

We have only played one ranked team. We have done the bare minimum of what’s acceptable so far. We have an opportunity to do more than that this week, but it’s not looking great.

The problem with negativity is there’s a tendency to keep raising the bar so failure to meet expectations is more likely and thus the negativity that feels better to some can continue. Be careful not to fall into that trap, or you’ll look up a December and realize we had a good season that you didn’t even enjoy.
