Great coaches still win. Urban Meyer was clearly a major talent when going undefeated at Utah. Chris Peterson the same at Boise State. Leach has good teams, but always has some astronomical beat down in his big games. I would like to have a coach who's won something before getting the job here.
I'm not excited. I'm not furious, like I was for Jones, but it is a wait and see approach with a healthy dose of skepticism.
Like I said, the dramatic inconsistencies are a big concern to me. Even in the year he made it to #2, he loses 65-21 to Oklahoma. Why can't he mitigate these games to give his team a better chance to win? He's simply all over the place. Plus, he's played in leagues without much in terms of defenses. That won't be the case in the SEC.
Big, big question marks for Leach, to me. Huge wild card. Tell me, do you see this as a guy who can have us in Atlanta 1-2 times every 5 years?
Touche.
Mods feel free to merge.
I'm just excited and had to let everyone know about it.

Most of us will take some inconsistency in big games for a level of consistent success and go from there. Hell, he beat Standford this year alone.
He sure as hell should be able to beat Florida and GA more than we have after the last 5 years.
Leach is the kind of dude who can beat Florida by 3 TDs and then lose by 30 to South Carolina. We've gone 20 years without a championship of some sort and that type of coach doesn't strike me as one who can do it. I'd rather some other major school experiment with him. The more I think about Leach, the less I like it.
I also wonder if Doeren was floated as a candidate to smooth over any actual coach we hire following that near miss.
