If Pruitt is fired then what??????

Is freze the answer??? People keep looking saying the grass is greener look at Arkansas they are doing well after losing so many games coach is only in first year let’s see what is happening in year three or four. The truth is there is not a,or of hot coaches or really good splash hires that are available. Would love to have a head coach that has coached in a power five team I agree you need to back up the Brinks truck and have them give you a number and raise it by 100,000.

Hope we get a really good hire just feel we will be in the same spot when freze is 8-4 two years in a row and haven’t beaten Alabama or Florida and we want another coach.

Who knows if Freeze is THE answer, the question is whether he's a better answer. As of today, UT has an AD that thought/thinks helping coach the OL is a wise use of his time and a head coach that doesn't possess CEO skills. I'm pretty sure Freeze would do really well at UT but there are many, many other better answers.

Campbell is at ISU. Chadwell is the guy at Coastal. Regardless, I'd take a chance on either one of those guys and instantly feel like we made a huge upgrade at the head coaching position.
thanks for the correction - but the odds are - neither will be successful in the sec and that is not a cut on these two guys it is the reality for almost every single sec hc. auburn still wants to fire Malzone - i bet most ut fans would be happy at this point with a couch who coud deliver 8 wins per year but that would only last for 2 years and then let's fire him

BIG money for who?????? cambell has never been a head coach in the big 5 and because he had one great yr at coastal carolina playing mini ball ? - freeze only makes 3 million and has lots of baggage - the other people are NOT coming to UT you mentioned. You might get a fired nfl guy? or another hot shot coordinator - Pruitt has been in a perfect storm of crap - who would have believed a 5th yr senior would have played so poorly this year after winning 8 straight games - his qb rating is 85th in the nation!!!!! - the other qb were simply not ready secondary to covid issues - give pruitt a chance.

so you want to fire pruitt during a covid season with 099 players and coaches positive and really no one at the ready to do better. Mullen would have been the perfect hire - but he turned it down!
Mullen is represented by Sexton and did not turn down the UT job. The deadline for Currie to contact Mullen was on a Sat. by noon. Currie did not make the call. At 3:00 p.m. UF announced the Mullen hire. Next day UT announced the Schiano hire. Anyone capable of reading between the lines should know that Jim Haslem, (big money), is to blame for UT not hiring Dan Mullen. Haslem likes the idea of being in control and he can't dog Sexton around. Of course he didn't anticipate the fan reaction to the Schiano hire.

Inside politics between boosters and administration is the cause of UT's dysfunctional football program and has been for quite awhile. It's no secret either and the only big name or good coach we'll get to come here is one nearing retirement. A good coach isn't going to risk his future coming here other than one reason........a truckload of cash ! Enough to last him the rest of his life.

TN football is getting or already has the reputation of where coaches come to end their careers. Since Fulmer, only Kiffen has survived being the HC here and that's because he is just is a good coach and had Saban save his reputation. Dooley never coached again, Butch still hoping the Saban rehab works for him but doesn't look it, Pruitt will probably just go back to being a DC. So what great coach wants to risk his reputation coming here? I write this being very sad that this is where our once great program has sunk to.

I am just as frustrated, we’ll make that just apathetic toward the program just to the point where I don’t care. Used to love reading articles about the team and looking up stats and coming on here to the boards to complain after losses and revel in all the wins.

Now it’s just not even watching the games, just looking to see how bad they are losing. If Pruitt loses and he is fired on that Sunday what are you as fans expecting to happen? Who is going to come and right the ship? Freze?? Your holding the future of your program on that guy? Some great offensive mind who’s team scores 45 points in the MAC or ACC? Another defensive coordinator from bama, Clemson (venebles) or Ohio st? There are NO SPLASH hires folks. Saban, Dabo and gruden are NOT going to come here and are the only sure thing hires? Wouldn’t you rather wait to get a really good guy that would maybe excite the base and recruits.

Please someone tell me who is a GREAT hire and would actually come here that we should get rid of our coach regardless of if we win the next two or lose them...
Gruden, in the same category as Dabo and Saban , sure thing hires???? Never won a single game in college!!!
Holding the Future of the program on Freeze???
He’s got the potential to be Great at the right place, and I think the right place for him would be here, and he’s got evidence to back up them expectations, unlike your “sure thing” Gruden.
And no one would excite the base and recruits more.

I'll agree that Pruitt is coaching for his job today. Beyond that, he's here for 2021 almost no matter what happens (a) -vs- TXAM; (b) in a potential bowl game; and (c) with the '21 recruiting class. To explain my logic is TLDR territory, so I'll just say it and leave it at that.

That being said...Coach Pruitt is also coaching for his job in '21, and I think anything less than 8 wins, including a win against either UF, UGA, or Bama, spells the end of the Pruitt Dynasty at UT. No doubt there will be a shakeup in the coaching staff after this season, and we've already seen attrition in recruiting, but no matter what transpires between now and next season...Jeremy Pruitt is coaching for his job in 2021. And rightfully so.

AD / Coach Fulmer believes he was fired by an impatient admin / fan base. He will give Pruitt every chance he can to right the ship, to the point of fault.

This is the predicament UT Football finds itself in. So I'll hope Pruitt finally gets it figured out, and we can avoid yet another "reset" in 2021.

Go Vols.

Both would be huge upgrades over the last 3 coaches.
So would freeze and the other half dozen names being thrown out here.
For me I want one that had rather be here than anywhere else.
Freeze and Maybe Chadwel fit the bill

He wouldn't be fired on Sunday. The early recruiting period starts this coming Wednesday. They'd do it some time in the off-season. (If they fired him at all, which seems unlikely)

This is bull. So Currie was 3 hours late and as a result Mullen went with the program that had offered the job to two other coaches? Sell me insurance and buy me dinner. 😏

Beyond that......Sexton had him, (Mullen), on hold the entire week. Haslem simply wanted Schiano and I don't know why Currie attempted to oblige the man. Threatening to pull his boosting ? Your guess is as good as mine.

Surely we would have someone lined up. We don’t want or need another public search.

Just remember what happened when we fired Donnie Tyndal. Rick Barnes was secured FIRST.
