If Pruitt gets fired?

Why would you give a contract to a new coach that has NO experience as a head coach, NONE, that will cost you $20 million to replace the staff if things don't work out after 3 years, and yet that is where we are, just stupid.

Pruitt would have take a one year contract, where else was he going, it is not like other major programs were interested in hiring a defensive coordinator as their head coach. The administration had no exit strategy with this hire, which was a major mistake when you take an unknown with no track record as a head coach.

If Pruitt gets fired who transfers and who do we lose in this recruiting class coming up?
I wish the news came this morning, but it looks like the Vandy game is going to decide his future. And if we end up blowing them out, you can bet our administration is going to keep him and say COVID caused a fluke season. Yes we are capable of that much stupidity.

When your quarterback stares down his receiver and the defending safety has to cross the entire width of the field to intercept the ball(and carry it 100 yards for a td) you have a definite lack of quarterback coaching !!!!!! I do not care how many heisman trophies our quarterback coach has.

This season is such a garbage fire. There is no way fulmer cans Pruitt after giving him an extension. If he does, he’s gone as well. No way that happens.

How? In one year he took us to a 7-5 record. He made a qb that was almost as terrible as JG into an NFL draft pick. We at least tried to beat every team instead of laying on the ball and not letting a guy you continue to play lose the game single handedly.......WHICH HE STILL FINDS WAYS TO DO!
You know we've seen some down times when "he took us to 7-5" is your argument for HIRING a coach.

If the athletic department have these coaches
a 1 year contract it would solve a lot of problems jmo. If they wanted their job renewed they would produce instead of sucking in a few million for2 or 3 years.
Granted maybe they wouldn't want the
job under those circumstances but I'm sure
somebody would not mind making 900 - to
1 million even if it was just for 1 year if they
didn't have the ability.
Sure would save these massive payouts.

I really don't believe he loses his job if we do lose to Vandy. They're already asking coaches to take a pay decrease because of COVID, that's telling the fan base right there that they don't have money for a buyout and a new hire

It doesn't matter. Coaching hiring and firing decisions can't be based on recruits. It's not like this class is contending to be the best in the nation or anything either. It's 5th in the SEC right now. A&M is 6th with 9 fewer commits, Auburn is 7th with 14 fewer commits, Arkansas is 8th with 8 fewer commits. We will probably land around 8th to 10th in the SEC even if we keep Pruitt and lose no one.
But apparently TN believes that extensions ARE based on recruits

Sad

Lucky? We were so much better than that team. Only thing that kept them in it was our inability to score TDs and their crazy legged qb

I'm not claiming we are now but we definitely were that game

It was skill when we recovered the onside kick? Maybe you should go back and watch the game again.

As to your point, we are better than Kentucky and Arkansas this year, and probably Auburn, and should have beaten at least 2/3 if not all 3.

Except that we didn't. So yeah, we got lucky.

The bigger question is, if he stays who transfers and who do we lose?
I believe recruiting is the only thing keeping him any security. They just got a recommit from RB yesterday. A big back they desperately need.
The biggest concern is that Pruitts recruits are not getting minutes. Last night we finally see a few of his recruits and they looked good. Why, in a year that doesn’t affect eligibility we aren’t seeing these young LBs is a mystery. We are horribly slow at LB and pass rush.
