if i was to put money on it, id go with lsu. but a big play offense like cal i think would be the best chance against a defense that its difficult to sustain drives against.

what is the point of this thread? who COULD be #2 that you'd pick over lsu?

questions like these are stupid, you NEVER know who can beat who until they actually play. if you did, then why play the games. why even bother with games like stanford/usc, stanford has no chance.

i'm not sure there is any team in the top-5 that you could have confidence would beat any other team in the top-5.

Jahvid Best is not as good as Trindon Holliday, but it's still close.

Jacob Hester is an underrated back, but he isn't going to burn anyone. Keiland Williams isn't as good as Forsett.


Cal's OL is better than LSU's OL.

The X factor is Perilloux and how he would be used in a ballgame like this.

I would take LSU's QB duo over Cal's duo any day. The running backs are close. LSU doesn't have a wide receiver like Jackson, but their set is every bit as fast, and I love Early Doucet. I'm not sure about Cal's O-line. I do believe LSU would hammer Cal if prepared. Especially with a lopsided advantage on defense.

So be it. I think LSU would win, but I would not say the talent differential on offense is huge.

LSU's D is better at both player personnel and coaching

I think Cal wins against Lsu---lsu was lucky to beat UF at home, and got a bunch of homer calls to win.

Regarding the Oregon game, however, Oregon fell all over themselves, literally, handing that win to Cal in the fourth quarter. Oregon's fourth quarter was a complete disaster. Cal came away with a win, though, which is the most important thing and what is needed to get to #2 -- and very nearly to #1.

I'd agree with those who say we probably aren't the 2nd best team in the country, but I have to completely disagree about the oregon game. Cal completely dominated oregon in the second half. We were scoring at will (3 tds in a row) until nate when down. If it wasn't for that drive being stalled (at oregon's 35 yard line) by that injury, that bs personal foul penalty that handed them a td, and that fg that was called no good which was clearly good, cal blows oregon out.
