Prove it. Not by the published rosters we see and KNOW are inaccurate. I believe 1vol8 could give you his actual height and weight if he were willing. But being the "smallest" is relative anyway. If the other two are 215 and he's 205 then he's the "smallest"... but not too small. Why do you keep trying to associate the type of injury he suffered with size or strength? He was flipped on his head. If he were 10 lbs heavier or even more muscled... it would not have changed that injury.
That's dishonest of you. I never said it didn't. I have said one that you don't know how much BM weighs and two that his injury wasn't caused by his size or strength. Big guys get neck injuries and concussions.
You made the claim. The burden of proof is on YOU.
And you have yet to explain how weighing less matters when you land on your head and suffer a nerve injury or else a concussion.
Concussions in particular are NOT subject to anything you can do in the weight room.
You keep trying to use this... and it just doesn't follow.
How does it appear that way? Wouldn't the exact opposite be the case? Hes already been given chances to play, even as a true freshman.....how does he suddenly lose his chances to play the next 3 seasons?
It appears that some on here can't recognize qb talent when they see it. If maurer had started this year he would be as good as LSU qb next year. Those who can't see qb talent only look at stats not counting the score. With maurer opposing teams would not stack the Los the way they do with jg and we would have a triple threat, qb run, rb run, and pass downfield.
Do you think Maurer will stay and become a 3 year starter at the University of Tennessee or will he take his talents elsewhere? As freshmen usually do. But go back and watch the games he played and look at how often he's able to place the ball in a tight window. That's accuracy. He's made bad decisions and coverage reads. But he has a very good ability to spot the ball where he wants to put it.
Yeah.... except he played on an awful team surrounded by really bad players... and still put up incredible numbers then showed out at the Elite 11.
You want to cite some proof for that? Maybe too much of the burden was placed on him and he had to try to do too much?
You keep repeating that non-sense... give a citation. A real proof. He was listed as 6'3" 193 before his Sr year. That's not a "small" or "weak" player. He did in fact gain weight after arriving at UT. He has not played "small" or "weak". He was flipped on his head.... which has absolutely NOTHING to do with his physical strength.
That's not accuracy. That's decision making. He has a very good ability to place the ball where he intends to throw it. That is accuracy.
And you can keep beating that same drum... and it still won't be true. Undoubtedly BM will put on weight and muscle but he isn't the frail 140 lb weakling you're making him out to be.
Next year because Pruitt will start jg regardless of how much he messes up, and pull maurer with first mistake. Jg will screw our season up next yr just as he has this year if he is qb. All maurer needs is playing time.
I don't know. I hope he stays but a lot of guys don't these days. He would have options if he chose to leave. I think it would be a mistake to leave after this year. Depending on how disciplined he is he could graduate in 3 years and have two years to play. That would let him go wherever he wants to go without losing a year.Do you think Maurer will stay and become a 3 year starter at the University of Tennessee or will he take his talents elsewhere?
Look at BMs arms in that picture. There is not one defined muscle on his whole upper half save for a small bicep, certainly no tricep or forearm muscles. I don't think his frame is too small for the position but his CURRENT size, muscle tone, thickness and strength was too small for him to be very productive this year. I think Pruitt should have had him RS this year as I believe a year of watching, learning and growing, both mentally and physically without any pressure to produce would have been good for him and would have allowed for him to compete, with a clean slate, for the starting QB position next year. Maurer has now played and has a resume for everyone to see and that resume has hurt him more than its helped and his body strength is certainly part of that resume. So you have nothing? Are you trying to suggest that those photos have the exact same perspective or that you can tell from those pictures that Maurer is 25 lbs lighter than JG as you've claimed?
As a RS Fr, JG was listed as 6'4" 200 lbs... was he too small? That is pretty close to what MB measures.
Shrout is here for the education and experience. I could see him transferring once he gets his degree but not before. He's very similar situation to the Trask kid at Florida I feel, plus, women are 37-0, undefeated for all time!I don't know. I hope he stays but a lot of guys don't these days. He would have options if he chose to leave. I think it would be a mistake to leave after this year. Depending on how disciplined he is he could graduate in 3 years and have two years to play. I also think Chaney will develop him better than most.
I think he will become a very good QB somewhere. His decisions need to mature but I really like the aggression and physical ability. He's said to be a "gym rat" and appears to have already passed Shrout's understanding of the system.
IMHO, Shrout is the first guy with a decision to make.
Couple of points to attempt to talk some sense into a few of you that have become so jaded by your disappointment the last 10 years or your millennialism status that you cant think straight.
1) Brian Mauer played as a true freshman this season and proved he was an extremely talented kid. CJP played and started him in multiple games that we won and lost. How could one assert Pruitt will play another QB over him even if it's obvious BM is way better? We played and won playing 3 QBs the last 5 games for goodness sake.
2) How does this scenerio not fire up volnation?: JG, Mauer, and Bailey each competing for the starting job next fall. Coaches and players that have played the game realize how important competition is for great teams. Wouldn't JG be the one most likely to have the best argument to transfer? Hes graduated and can start anywhere next season without having to compete for a starting job
3) Say your one of those people who believe Mauer and Bailey won't get a fair shot ( which I don't understand bc CJP has already proven he'll pull a 4th year QB) and JG gets the nod next fall: JG is gone after next season, which would make Mauer (assuming he doesn't redshirt) a Junior and Bailey (assuming he does RS) a freshman. Would the same folks that are claiming Pruitt isnt giving BM a chance now continue to say he hasn't gotten a chance at that time?
4) EARTH TO YOUNG PEOPLE: great teams dont have to have 4 yr starters at QB....Claiming he wont get " a shot" to be at the very least a clear two year starter (3 if he RS's) is beyond absurdity..This would be true even if you were into conspiracy theories like Pruitt had some sorta secret crush on JG
5) Shrout probably should transfer after this season. However, have you saw his girlfriend? He ain't going nowhere...
Another off season with Chaney and he will continue to get better.JG to transfer portal please; seemingly a good kid but limits this team. Watch the Mizzou film......almost every throw was late or behind the receiver. Same for the past 2+ season. He has hit his ceiling.

Go to a school where you can get to play.
It's all about playing the game. Leave watching the game to fans
