HB gets here in January, I think the QB competition may be over after spring practice.

If i had a nickel for every dang time I read that people on here think the next qb was going to come in and be a starter immediately I would be rich. For example: JG. You might be right but realistically the coaches don't want that. They want to give him a red shirt year to get bigger and stronger and learn the system inside and out while they let the guys who have been here do what they have already taught them for the last two years. I hope he becomes a superstar but I also hope we can build some depth for years to come. As much as it hurts me to say we are not going to compete for the playoffs in the next couple years anyways.

Hopefully I am wrong about that last sentence but I don't think I am.

HB is ready to play physically right now, he's not skin and bones. 5* ( I think he'll be rated that after his season) guys are generally counted on to contribute their 1st year to SOME capacity. If he redshirts and doesn't play next year it'll be because JG will have locked the job down with 7 consecutive victories this year and performed well next spring and throughout next season. Zero chance that BM, JT or Hill will be named the starter this spring IF we win out with JG playing. Guarantano is not going anywhere, no matter how bad the never JG crowd wants him to leave, if he finishes the season strong and there is no way this staff is going to tell him to leave with the question marks we have now playing behind him. If JG stinks it up the rest of the way then HB will absolutely get a chance to play early next year if he has a good spring.

HB isn’t much bigger than Maurer weather you want to believe that or not. You don’t find it strange that Maurer has been 193 lbs since arriving at UT last January? HB is an inch taller and weighs maybe 25 lbs more by now. The difference is you personally WANT anyone but Maurer. What is it with this kid that you fear so much? You’re constantly trying to convince people to unsee what they’ve already seen. You’ve tried to put out the narrative that he’s fragile with a complete disregard for the freak nature in which it happened. You’ve brought up stats, but only the half that makes you “look” correct while COMPLETELY avoiding the obvious aggressive approach Chaney takes with him behind center. Are you afraid he’s the real deal and you had your heart set on HB and JG? That’s all I can think of because nothing else makes any sense unless you just don’t want what’s best for UT. You just want to be right.

You have to be the most delusional person on Volnation. If every Qb stays, Jg will be 4th or 5th on the depth chart.

I predict maurer will transfer if he doesnt get to play the majority of the games left, and that jg will start next yr as well. And if this happens we wont win more than 6 games next yr. Maurer has shown a lot of potential and will be a great qb

I think jg stays as long as he plays as much as he is now. If maurer doesnt start the rest of this yr he wont start next yr either. Ky needs a qb LSU will need one next yr.

Hopefully you are right and HB wants to do that. And hopefully that means Maurer, or whoever, are really good and not that HB isn'tas bileld. But these kids coming in are more prepared in HS than they once were and they also want to play sooner.

with LSU needing a QB one might look to transfer now... but then again LSU will probably be able to recruit a great QB. Still if I'm Shrout I'm gone. Maurer still seems to be liked by the coaches but then again like you say if he doesn't get the reps and isn't red shirted he might go as well.
