1) For a lot of the student athletes at the University of Tennessee and other institutes (ARKANSAS), the coaches are a big moral compass for them and may be one of the biggest moral influences on their entire lives.
2) Unfortunately, many kids no longer recognize the Good Lord for a moral compass.
3) What you use UT athletics for is your business. For many of us that live in and around Knoxville and those of us who graduated from UT, that have spouses that graduated from UT, that have kids that graduated from UT, that have parents that graduated from UT, etc. (I HOPE you get the drift), an above average team with NO off field issues is a GOOD thing. I love to win, but I also know how to lose (comes with being a UT fan for a long time). I too love the fellowship and fun on Saturday's, but those brief 12 or 13 afternoon's in the fall DO NOT make up the entire season. If they did, this site would only be active from the first of Sept to mid Jan. Out football team is here year round. And those of us that love the University, live in Knoxville, and send our kids here want the leaders of both the University and it's Athletic programs to act like they have a moral compass stitched to their backs. I didn't like it when Pearl got a mistress and divorced his wife but that was his business. If it had blown into the deal that Petrino's has by putting the program in a big legal mess, I would have wanted him gone because then it effects all those who support the University monetarily; namely donors, those who pay tuition, and the taxpayers of the state.
4) Your arguments for hiring a head coach or a business leader with no moral compass really points a finger back at you.

Sorry if it upsets you, but it's my opine and like most it stinks.

^^^THIS^^^

This is also true for those of us that don't live in Knoxville.

Part of the huge problems facing our great country are because of a serious lack of morals nowdays too and to correct these problems we have to start by better educating the kids about what's right and wrong.

VFL...GBO!!!

Dead on TNGlen. To many sacrifice their morals for success, money, fame, attention etc etc. Like u said nowadays that's an allowed behavior. Very unfortunate cause our society is in pretty bad shape because of it. We have a number of the younger generation that have not been taught any of this. My ex-gf has a sister that is 20 now, known her since was 17, and some the things going on nowadays is astonishing. And I'm no saint! Problem is that it's the norm and no shame anymore. When I was in school a girl was ashamed if her bf told his friends about them hooking up. Now girls aren't ashamed about being apart of orgies. Sad!

I like ur posts but still keeping an eye on you and ur bama love my friend.

Hey, I grew up there. When you are a Bear Bryant desciple for 15 or so of your formative years, you don't shake those roots easily. Trust me, I am orange first, through and through. And I am not a "Florida is our biggest rival" guy either. UT first, Bama second, and any SEC but KY and Vandy 3rd.

If I could get the mods to add the Johns Hopkins Blue Jays to the team listing, Bama would go away.

MODS where r y'all??? Please get on the JP logo. Tired of agreeing with TNGlen and seeing that awful bama sign next to the beloved orange. :)

The man had a mistress... big deal. He's a genius and a fantastic recruiter who would absolutely flourish at the University of Tennessee. Gruden is not coming so, when the mediocrity continues yet again this fall, there's no reason to not have Bobby Petrino in Tennessee's top 3.

Well, you had best check with all those Blue Hairs that you keep talking about. They are the donors and I don't think they would much care for BP.

Why would UT hire a guy with that kind of character with all that we have been through!?? I am just waiting for the thread about how now we know what happened to Otha Peters that famous weekend he went down to Fayetteville without his Momma- Dorrell, the girl Petrino was with, was hired as student-athlete devel coor- which was in charge of organizing the recruiting process for the football team! If she is having an affair with the HC, no telling what she was putting together on a regular basis for recruits! If someone got to the true bottom of this, we would find out that this would make our Hostess-gate look like a bunch of girl scouts or nuns!

GREAT POST!!!! I agree 100%!!!!!
Enough already about the POS!!!!

Hey, where are you in H'ville? I was in Athens last weekend.

And burned every bridge at almost every single job he's had.

Sure, hire the guy.

He's also won at every single college job he's ever held. He's like some sort of Bizzaro Dooley.

I honestly don't know if he would be good for UT or not. He might get us in trouble with the NCAA, or he might screw us like Kiffin did and leave for an easier more high profile job, but until either of those happened, I'm very confident he would be able to win here.

Gruden would be hired before that POS Petrino would even be considered. I always thought Gruden was no shot until I spoke with a Donor a couple weeks ago and was informed that rumor has legs to it
