Yes, that seemed bad at the time. And, he definitely could have handled it better. But a big part of his approach is to keep everything a big huge secret. Yes, he flat out lied about staying at Miami. But how better could he had handled it. Should he said that he was going to Bama before the deal was complete? Should he have said that he was thinking about leaving Miami? Either of those approaches could have backfired on him. So I give him the benefit of a doubt on that one...in my book, that was like a little white lie.

Mike Shula won 10 games at Bama. UT doesn't want a coach who can just win 10 games every year, they want a NC, something Petrino has not been close doing.

Agreed. You missed the first part of that sequence. My stance is what BobbyP has done at Louisville and Ark is comparable if not better than the jobs Cal and Saban have done at KY and Bama and those fanbases don't care about personal reputation.

How? Cal and Saban both won national championships. Petrino at best was third in the SEC. I don't see how anyone can argue he has done a better job? Because he doesn't have the players they have? Its his job to recruit them and get them on the team. A good recruiter could easily get players at Arkansas coming off the success they have had. The thing is he is a terrible recruiter.

Arkansas will never have equal talent to Bama as long as Bama has a strong staff regardless of how good the ark staff recruits. That's why BP winning 10 at Ark is just as impressive to me as what Saban has done.

What Bobby P has done with largely 3* talent at Arkansas is nothing short of remarkable....especially in the second west. He only lost to the two teams that played for the NC, on the road no less, last year. We would be FOOLS not to take him if he were available.

My guess this is only a suspension for Petrino. He has made Arkansas way too successful at a program thatis not even a top 25 program. They will not fire him. As for Dooley if he fails I don't know that I would be for or against Petrino at this point. Success at collegiate level is worth the hire. His flight risk who knows??
