Pruitt's in full control. He wants Freeze 1st. It's a matter of Freeze accepting. Sexton could easily be playing us against AU and Bama. Pruitt will make the offer and Freeze will take it or decline. I can't visualize Freeze with Gus. What I Could visualize is Auburn hiring him as Head Coach....buyout and all. Also Bama may still want him. There's only so much that Pruitt can do and Bama wouldn't be as much a challenge because Freeze could spend one year there and be hired by Auburn after the 2019 season. UT is the more challenging job but maybe Freeze feels he needs a good challenge. Being a success at UT will help his resume more in the long run as far as future jobs are concerned. A high school coach could walk into Bama and have success right off the bat.How do you think Pruitt feels? Knowing the administration wants to micromanage everything he does. If I were Pruitt I'd tell them to shove it
Yeah boy, that's a good thing for a 1st year coach to do. Like I posted.....Pruitt's done his job and that's offer the best coach available the position. Law doesn't allow one person the right to force another to do things. There are a couple of reasons Freeze may decline the job and one isn't money. He could have informally already taken the position. We should all know soon.I wouldn’t resign if I was him, I’d make them fire me and get that sweet sweet buyout money
But why bother going to the NCAA for clearance if your own administration hadn’t already said ok first. That would be a backwards way of doing it
That would explain the reasoning for interviewing Lindsey as a back-up plan but something you wouldn't want to have to do. I don't see Pruitt or Fulmer playing any games with Freeze. You coming or you're not. Buck Fama!!!I agree. I think the administration has already given his hiring their blessing. Freeze is probably waiting to see what happens at Alabama.
My feelings exactly as I just posted above. Pruitt's getting this show on the road..... he offered and all is needed is acceptance. Not going to wait around and see what Locksley and Bama does. Don't give Freeze and Sexton that luxury. 'Bama is the easier job at this point but UT could be the most rewarding. We'll see. What are the chances this development was "leaked" to pressure Freeze so to speak to make a hasty decision? Say, before the bama OC job comes open.
What you said is true but Pruitt not's gonna allow himself to be "played". I'm sure UT has the needed cash. There's no BOT standing in the way either. The stopping point comes down to Freeze "willing" to take part in a rebuild starting essentially with nothing as compared to going to Bama and having everything. Under those circumstances Lindsey will work out fine. Freeze isn't a miracle worker and will get us in the right direction but it's still a two year job at the least. Here’s the way I see it. There is major opportunity to arguably pair two of the top playcallers together on both sides of the ball. Putting Pruitt with Freeze makes too much sense for a rebuilding program. I’m gonna be honest- outside of Freeze or Kingsbury, any other OC hire is a letdown. Partially because the other options are good ole boys with Pruitt and seems like the “safe hires”
Pruitt has been a welcomed freshness because of his mindset and coaching pedigree and his matter of fact attitude. However if we hire an OC who is someone that’s a good ole boy with Pruitt, it’s not inspiring. We’ve seen what’s happened with the good ole boy Will Friend.
I hope the board blocking Freeze is true because Pruitt will likely raise hell. After all, he’s the guy who said at a halftime interview on national TV that he needs 25 more guys so he can compete, meaning he doesn’t have that now.
Tennessee needs a spark, homerun hire at OC. There’s only two people that fit that.
It's Freeze or Lindsey in that order and if it's not Freeze it's because he didn't like the challenge or the political B/S that's been attached to our program. All coaches in America now know how boosters want to inject poison into the football program at UT and it's a big turn-off. That's why they don't want to coach here. Could you actually visualize a freak like Haslam pulling this crap on Saban? It won't be Friend but it wouldn't surprise me if it turns out to be someone we haven't mentioned yet. Coaching searches around here are always a circus and invariably, a letdown for the fan base.
Pruitt's doing his job. Only person letting you down is yourself. The reality exist that Freeze doesn't want to coach here.Shoop should have been a good hire... it made perfect sense. I also remember the reactions on here when Mike DeBord was announced as Bajakian's replacement... and then Larry Scott. Pruitt isn't Butch... but I am prepared to be let down again. It's just how it goes.
I said it last night. The source doesn't matter when it's bad news. People believe it because bad news usually ends up being correct around here. Half the fan base expects to have to use the Twitter Kraken to get anything done at this point. The last HC search did that. Sure, it's insane. But it's not without persistent. Volnation as a whole had no faith in the Admin.Yeah, but anyone with any sense would realize he is more in tune with what is going on than an unknown 'insider' with a twitter account. Just find it odd that people tend to follow the least credible person's take to fuel their own personal meltdown.
