Obviously true but this is a unique case considering the recent history of Hugh Freeze. I believe that Fulmer would get the offer cleared with the administration before presenting it to Freeze.

But why bother going to the NCAA for clearance if your own administration hadn’t already said ok first. That would be a backwards way of doing it

From what I’ve been told Freeze hasn’t even accepted our offer. Pruitt and Fulmer are doing their part. It’s up to freeze to say yes and some of our administration to ok it.
It’s what I got too. Heard all the details were ironed out. Waiting on acceptance.

A guy in his position has leverage to do so. Hope we can sling the $$ to make any counteroffers.

I agree. I think the administration has already given his hiring their blessing. Freeze is probably waiting to see what happens at Alabama.

Everyone who is saying they have heard this and that, where are the links? How is it you are hearing things that not even the true insiders are not?

Really? So Freeze is the ONLY candidate you’ll accept. That makes sense.
Speaking for myself, no he isn't and I wouldn't burn the place down. But it's high time that the flippin BOT and these haslams keep their nasty hands outta athletics. Let Fulmer run the show and support our coaches and get them what they need to be successful!!!! I'm just 1 person but dadgum it I'm sick of our program and us fans being the laughing stock of all college football everytime we have a opening on staff in football. And it every bit (if true) somehow comes back to a freaking haslam or one of their puppets (Boyd)!!!!! Us fans have been here thru thick n thin and it's about time we get a lil reward for being faithful fans to this University and football program even thru all the mess they have made with coaching hires and lack there of.

What are the chances this development was "leaked" to pressure Freeze so to speak to make a hasty decision? Say, before the bama OC job comes open.

You are completely spot on with everything you said. But sadly, its just not gonna happen. Everyone on the Hill and other boosters act like scared children before little Jimmy Haslam. They are so scared of losing his money that they will likely do anything he says. It is what it is. Accept it and move on.

I’m tired of the rebuilding it’s been going on for 10 years plus. We haven’t been relevant since 2001 when we should have won another national championship but choked. If they screw this up I believe TN will never recover we have too far to go with too many better teams and coaches ahead of us at this point. TN is a laughing stock we would struggle to win American conference at this point.

Here’s the way I see it. There is major opportunity to arguably pair two of the top playcallers together on both sides of the ball. Putting Pruitt with Freeze makes too much sense for a rebuilding program. I’m gonna be honest- outside of Freeze or Kingsbury, any other OC hire is a letdown. Partially because the other options are good ole boys with Pruitt and seems like the “safe hires”

Pruitt has been a welcomed freshness because of his mindset and coaching pedigree and his matter of fact attitude. However if we hire an OC who is someone that’s a good ole boy with Pruitt, it’s not inspiring. We’ve seen what’s happened with the good ole boy Will Friend.

I hope the board blocking Freeze is true because Pruitt will likely raise hell. After all, he’s the guy who said at a halftime interview on national TV that he needs 25 more guys so he can compete, meaning he doesn’t have that now.

Tennessee needs a spark, homerun hire at OC. There’s only two people that fit that.

IF what is being said is true, and we wait, it may be too late to even have a voice.
IF what is being said isn't true, then our emails and tweets probably are meaningless.
If what is being said is true, and Fulmer is rallying donors, and we as a fanbase are making our voice heard ...

I sent an email, and encourage others to do the same.

President Boyd,
I am no one of any consequence. I am not a man of means. I am, however, a 45 year old life long Vol fan. I have spent thousands of dollars thru the years on tickets, merchandise, concessions, ect. IF it is true that you are blocking the hire of Hugh Freeze because of his past indiscretions (especially if you haven't talked to him yourself, face to face), thus, hindering the resurgence of UT Football, I will no longer be a supporter of UT sports at all. I cannot continue to give my hard earned dollars to a university that does not care about the product they put on the field/court. Again, I know I am nobody, but I also know that my voice mirrors the voice of many, many other Vol fans and supporters, many of whom do have means. We are sick and tired of the UT administration embarrassing the fan base as well as the state. Support your Athletic Director and let his do his job.
Thank You,
XXXXXX Webb

Pruitt can raise all the hell he wants and you know it wont make a difference. He would be raising hell to the ones who hold his fate at TN in their hands. I honestly dont see why so many on VN seem to be bought in on us hiring Freeze. Why did some really expect it to happen?

I would be fine with Lindsey. I think he would do well here. And who knows, he might even be better than Freeze. But I am still afraid that after all of this, Friend is going to be announced as OC.
