I am not sure I understand these questions/complaints. Currie didn't hire any of these coaches that didn't like him right? So is he just supposed to give them whatever they want? From my view, a coach wants his guys as assistants. And we expect the AD to just to play the hand he has been dealt? They don't have to like him. He just has to give them what they need to be successful. A working relationship with existing coaches is different than a relationship with coaches you hand pick. Good news is he gets to fire/hire one of the top WBB coaching positions in the world! No pressure. Lets see what he can do.

I think you are misunderstanding.
He did hire one of the basketball coaches that said he meddles too much.

I think the only big hire Currie made was Bruce Weber, who replaced Martin.

It kinda sounds to me like Davenport, Haslam and Manning made this decision, much to the dismay of some other boosters and committee members.

Peyton won't go against the University and speak out against the hires, whether he truly supports them or not.

Whatever he says, and I'm not even sure he will say anything, don't you think you could tell if he was truly supportive or just saying what he knows he should?

I think I can get a pretty good idea.

Edit: I could be, and probably am totally wrong.

Hubbs said yesterday he thinks the fact that Peyton agreed to call Fulmer, Blackburn and prominent boosters meant he was on board with the hire.

To me that says he would be able to break the news and handle the situation better than someone from the school. I'm sure he heard a lot of cussing and laughing and all that could take place without the school leaking it to the media or ruining those relationships further.

Well, if that's true, I guess I was wrong when I said if Peyton was good with the hire, I would be.

Hopefully it'll pass, but I'm just not feeling it right now.:dunno:

It's what Hubbs believes but I'm not sure he has any other reasons.
Could be that PM didn't care for how everyone else was going to handle things.
Maybe they weren't going to handle it otherwise. Let em find out like everyone else, breaking news.
Wouldn't shock me honestly.

Currie has made his own reputation for good or bad. It's up to him to give you a reason to like him. Nothing wrong with your personal opinion.

Yea, I guess I'm just trying to make it clear that it is, just my opinion, and I certainly don't think I know any better than anyone else.

Lol, I was pissed at his weak "go Vols" at the end of his initial speech. Not enthusiastic at all. I know.......:crazy:

No idea if I could or not. I don't actually know PM as a person. I've watched him since he arrived at UT and continued to follow him through the NFL, and now into retirement, but I won't pretend that gives me insight to his thoughts.
