If Currie prevented Martin from playing an ineligible

No idea if I could or not. I don't actually know PM as a person. I've watched him since he arrived at UT and continued to follow him through the NFL, and now into retirement, but I won't pretend that gives me insight to his thoughts.

I thought by saying "I think" and "pretty good IDEA" it wouldn't seem like I thought I could read his mind. I actually just thought I could tell if it might be like "coach speak" you know, just saying what he had to?

Lol, Sorry I forgot to say "but I could be totally wrong".

Payton would act as the peace makers regardless of who he wanted for AD. His smart enough to know that deviding the fans won't help anything. Currie won't last forever, especially if he screws up football.

It kinda sounds to me like Davenport, Haslam and Manning made this decision, much to the dismay of some other boosters and committee members.

Maybe I'm outta the loop but I'd love to know your source on that one.

Well that's dumb...why would you take a job working for someone you didn't like....FAKE NEWS MAYBE

Or maybe he had to work with him to find out?
Usually people don't complain about working with people they've never worked with. Or maybe that's dumb too.

So who led Fulmer to believe he may be hired?

I love CPF...I really do...but I don't think I ever thought there was a chance that we would hire him...especially after BD said she wanted someone with Power 5 experience....its quite easy to figure out who was left out at that point....maybe I just took her at her word on that....she was giving us a heads up....CPF probably would have been fine as would Blackburn....but that's not the road we chose so lets all agree to act like adults and support the man....

If Davenport gave us a heads up on anything, it was her highest priority. And that was an AD who will understand how to help move Tennessee past the Title IX crap.

Your guess is as good as mine on what steps she has in mind. She may not have it completely figured out yet. But obviously Currie must have satisfied that part of her interview, or we would still be discussing the search.

No source because it's just me thinking out loud.

It's been reported that Currie was Jimmy Haslam's guy. It's been reported that Peyton called Fulmer, Blackburn and some other prominent donors to break the bad news. It's been reported that the search committee wasn't unanimous in its choice. And it's been reported that several members of the search committee weren't aware of the choice until after it was made.

I can't say for certain who all was included, but it definitely sounds to me like this decision was made by a small subset of the committee. Again, just my opinion.

Davenport was also very guarded yesterday when asked specifics about the search committee. She wouldn't answer whether or not the search committee ever interviewed Currie.

Sorry. Wasn't trying to be confrontational. I'm a little on edge right now. Received some tough health news earlier this week.
