If Coach Barnes leaves for UCLA....

The only thing Barnes has ever indicated he wasn’t happy about at Tennessee was his assistants pay. Given how bizarre the circumstances must be for him to be considering UCLA, id have to think there’s still some tension there. If we’re not willing to shell out a little more for some assistants, why in the world would we shell out a ton to hire a big name coach?

What if on top of UCLA offering him 7-8 million, they are also offering him a big ass pile of cash for his assistants?

If we’re just speculating, I’d say there are some scenarios which are more plausible than others... of course anyone has their price...

It seems pretty obvious that Barnes and Fulmer have issues of some sort. It’s not just money.

Chris Beard would be a grand slam hire.

It’d take a lot of money to make him interested though.

There are a wide array of rumors and issues that are attached to Rick Barnes entertaining the UCLA job. Social media, radio talk-shows and insiders have stated that Barnes wants UT to commit to the basketball program, via money for assistants, decision making for the program etc. If UT and Barnes cannot come to an agreement, he should go to UCLA where there is more basketball tradition, more commitment to creating a winning program and the Bruins do have Final 4/National Championship banners to boot. This negotiation between Barnes and Fulmer will show how much Fulmer and UT cronies are committed to having a winning basketball program that is given every resource to be successful. If Barnes leaves because UT does not commit to his wants/needs for the program, then I think we will clearly see how non-committed UT is to the basketball program. IF he leaves, UT will go on the cheap, hire an up and coming coach who is going to oversell his abilities and program while we as fans have to sit through multiple .500 win season yet again.

It seems that us UT fans cannot have a good thing for too long.......I have said it before and I will say it again, fan apathy is a program killer! It seems that UT athletics thrives on having mediocre sports programs and does not care about their fans becoming apathetic.......

I'm thinking Forbes all the way too. Coached here previously under Pearl. Has an amazing win% at all the smaller schools he's been head coach at. Taken 2, if not 3 of those schools to the dance. Has a keen eye for talent, especially at getting transfers to gel quickly. I'd give B.Donavon a call if CRB were to leave, which I doubt.

did you really ask why ????????????
Yes, why? Dont give me the FBI crap because that's been debunked. Don't give me the he cheated here crap, because he had a weak administration that folded to Haslam and NCAA pressure. So again, what has he done to not deserve another chance here if there was mutual interest?

hahahahahahahahahaha ..... you fire a Coach who has lied to you and the NCAA and has to serve a show cause penalty ...... and has had 2 more assistants having questions asked about them and one admitted guilt .... really .. Im asking again really .... there is NO WAY Pearl is asked back here ...... " I can see his press conference " like the one he did at Auburn .. he walks to the podium and says " IM BACK !!!!!!!!!!!! "

Never said he would be back here but I don't believe for a second there won't be pressure on Fulmer to at least have a conversation with him. His 2 assistants that got in trouble had nothing to do with Pearl directly.

Seriously?
Lol holy sh!t, how many times do we have to go through this? Yes, Seriously? These is a small chance that Pearl could return here, will he? I doubt it but there isn't a 0% chance. If there is an opening Fulmer will be pressured to at the very least have a conversation with Pearl and Pearl will listen. Does that mean he will be the Head Coach here? Probably not but you guys act as if he's untouchable without doing any research on any of the FBI stuff. A simple google search will tell you it has nothing to do with him. He lied to the NCAA, yes but he had a weak administration and Mike Hamilton was a beta male spending his time on his knees in the House of Haslam. A real AD would have told his coach to keep his mouth shut and he would handle it.

In what world would Mack leave Louisville for Tennessee, especially when he has a top class coming in next year. Prohm wouldn’t even leave for his Alma Mater Alabama.
Might as well have added K and Roy to the list. They’re as likely to happen as most of those names.
