Here are 6 candidates for Phil Fulmer to talk to:cool:

Bruce Pearl Auburn head coach
Steve Prohm Iowa State head coach
Chris Mack Louisville head coach
Matt McMahon Murray State head coach
Kermit Davis Ole Miss head coach
Greg Gard Wisconsin head coach

Good list. I like the first name, 2nd and the 4th and oh yes the FIRST, thou as much as he might like to come I don't think he would.

Hate to admit it, but Penny actually did a good job this year.

Unfortunately my Nate Oats already got hired and by Bama... I think he’s going to be a good one

Take the $5M from Barnes buyout and add that to Barnes salary and sign Chris Beard to a 5-yr deal. Probably best coach other than coach K. Everyone who has seen his practices come away really impressed. And, with the talent he has at TT, it's obvious he can recruit.
12.3 million buyout for Beard.

I am sure that some of the people who influenced Fulmer to do decisions will be against Pearl returning

Those same people were prolly friendly with Pearl. After all, Pearl stayed in Knoxville for the 3 years after his firing. Him and Fulmer had a friendly relationship.

Is there a chance we could convince Rob Lanier to come back? We can offer him more money than Georgia State. He is already familiar with the roster. He has said himself that his time in Knoxville was the greatest experience of his career, and he still has family in Knoxville. It makes too much sense.

I think if Grant/Bone come back with Lanier as coach, it makes sense. After all, Lanier staying here would likely mean he would be Barnes' choice to replace him. I don't see an issue with Lanier.

I really don’t get why anyone thinks we’d actually pursue a big name coach at their peak? When has Tennessee ever done that?

I can't see Tennessee forever only hiring cheap mid-major head coaches, assistant coaches or coaches who are close to retirement. I think Tennessee will actually spend some money and hire a top shelf men's basketball coach.

So basically, wishful thinking
