Virginia would’ve been an auto qualifier since they were already #17, eliminating the auto bid for the Sun Belt champ. Miami would’ve stayed right where they ended up. I don’t know how anyone can refute this.

You are assuming that no other changes would have happened. Last year when Arizona State won the Big 12, they moved then to 12 - jumping above 3 or 4 teams due to their win. With a Virginia win they would have moved up and possibly would have moved to #12 and then ND and Miami would have not been next to each other - avoiding the head-to-head.

Arizona State was #15 and beat #16 to win the Big 12 last year, so they got an automatic bid - their ranking didn’t matter because they were locked in as the 4th highest-rated conference champion.

Virginia would’ve done the same thing had they won last night - been the 4th highest-rated conference champ, knocking out the Sun Belt Champion. Beating a 7-5 unranked Duke team would not have vaulted them five spots and ahead
of Notre Dame, Miami, BYU, Texas, and Vanderbilt in the process.

I’m not going to change your mind, but to think otherwise is just crazy.

While you are technically correct, it is fair to wonder if the committee ultimately changed their mind on ND-MIAMI with limited new data points (all which favored ND) to prevent a ACC shutout...

Notre Dame deserved to be left out of the CFP 12 teams because they lost to the two teams of quality they played.(USC is a middling team).Navy and the other 50-120 teams do not rate.Fine! Have your little temper tantrum about not being picked.You should have won those games;but,you didn't!So shut the hell up and winter in the Grotto.

The calamity of choosing Bama isn’t so much the 21 point loss yesterday but the beat down they took from a garbage FSU team—I don’t care when it took place.

FSU lost to Pitt, NC State, Florida, and Stanford and finished 5-7 in an horiffic league.

Notre Dame needs to pick a conference and quit relying just on it’s brand. About time it bit them.
