Sam Pittman is a great OL coach but Jones screwed that up, Will Friend is an average OL coach at best.

Me too, thats why hiring a proven coach is what Tennessee needed. No way he hired someone more accomplished than he. I like Pruitt and think he will make a good head coach someday, but I dont think he is ready. I think he would have been better served going to a smaller school first.
But I cant blame him, if tennessee called me, my reply would be " you idiots are gonna pay me how much".. Lol

I think it'll be Lindsey at Auburn. Freeze and Malzahn are great friends and Pruitt/Lindsey have a good history working together. I'm not ruling out Freeze and hope we get him but Auburn looks like a likely destination for him if he's allowed to return to the SEC which I think he will be. I'd love for us to get Kitchens as I think he's perfect except for the Alabama ties. He's a good coach and fit but likely not to happen. Friend wouldn't be a shock but it would be a disappointment to our fanbase, especially with the negavols.

Hes learning on the job much like Muschamp did at Florida. Trust issues still haunt him at South Carolina. I think Pruitt is a great defensive coach but for lack of better words he needs an adult in the room, someone who has been a head coach before.

Freeze isn't happening. Tennessee doesnt care about winning.

That's what Fulmer is for, and why Fulmer hired a "young" guy like Pruitt. If Freeze is hired here it's because Pruitt wants him and he has full support of Fulmer which should include keeping him in his place. We need stability which means we need this hire to last.

Freeze's current salary as pro OC is not much different than what Helton's was so that should not be an issue.

There is absolutely no way this University will allow Freeze on staff. I personally would love to see it. However, after Schiano deal it’s too risky of a move.....the issues with human trafficking and the things that could come to light after hiring him is too risky. Doubt even Pruitt would want to gamble his career on Freeze. Just my opinion. Doesn’t make sense.

There are grumorzz that his bags are packed!! We'll know right away I feel, within 3-7 days from Helton announcement. CJP can't afford to wait, if it takes longer than a week then it'll likely be an underwhelming hire I feel. Freeze/Lindsey/Kitchens dominos will effect this hire. If he hires Lindsey or promoted Friend then expect Probst to be on the staff at some point.

I guess we can agree to disagree. Trust me I dont want him as OC, I want Kliff Now that we’re not getting Freeze. But he is a great Oline coach. That’ll be proven when we finally bring in good Olinemen.

Bull crap. No one in Orange wanted another 3rd rate head coach from above the Mason/Dixon to be our Head Coach. Anything else was an excuse.

Freeze has ties to the SEC and has been successful. No correlation to Schiano at all. :confused:
