"I think the Hugh Freeze stuff has some legs"

Kiffin is a lower tier coach. You can't make a statement and then move the goal posts. Most coaches are given 1 or 2 year extensions at a time. Enos was not going to be fired...
Kiffin is at an FBS school. That’s not moving goalposts

Proof either way? I don’t really care to look either way

Kiffin was the head coach for the Raiders before he was hired at Tennessee

c'mon. We're going to have to hire someone and whoever it winds up being sooner or later we will probably find out about some wicked shiz he did once upon a time. With this hire, we'd just have it all out there on the front end.

Yea, you missed the point and I should have left it alone, it doesn't belong here.

I have no problem with the hire, I hope it happens, but I don't think it will.

If we can forgive Jim Bakker, we can forgive Hugh Freeze. You remember Jim Bakker, the founder of the PLPT club. (That's "Preachers Like Poontang Too").

If Freeze is hired, do you guys think that the media will roast us over us accepting him and not accepting the Schiano hiring? Asking for a friend. ;) I know it is apples to oranges, but the media doesn't care about that. They want to prove that they were right even if it is incorrect.
By the way I would be for the hire.

Do you want to forgive him and give him another chance because you love him as a human being and believe he has turned his life around, or because he might help Tennessee win?

Lulz. I don't really care, I just think its another form of hypocrisy.
What's funny in all of this is people acting like they are owed the opportunity to forgive or not to forgive Freeze (or Shiano for that matter) for what they did. Its silly

Dont know, dont care. They have always taken any and all opportunity to **** all over Tennessee over the years, so I dont think they will stop now.

Winning cures everything. Look at the way the media portrayed Petrino a few years ago when they were winning.

Here's the full quote from Simonton.

"I do think that the Hugh Freeze stuff has some legs, talking to some people. There was interest a year ago when Pruitt was initially making his inaugural staff for Tennessee, with Hugh Freeze. That obviously did not happen and they went with Tyson Helton. I think there's some mutual interest there. There's gonna be some hurdles, though, to make that happen. One is the SEC and two, I think, is some folks in Tennessee's administration."

SEC may not be exuberant about it but I would think after a year or two of smackdown they would be more willing to let him accept a lesser role. Also, some of the folks in the UT Admin are gone (tho sadly some are still there). Good to see that Pruitt was at least talking to him last year.

As pointed out by Al.com, Sankey was able to squash the move thanks to a new rule in the SEC bylaws concerning Hiring Practices that requires schools to get the commissioner’s blessing for any candidates with a “major infraction” on their record:
In addition, where a member institution considers hiring an individual who has engaged in unethical conduct as defined under NCAA Bylaws or who has participated in activity that resulted, or may result, in a Level I, Level II or major infraction, the President or Chancellor of that member institution is expected to consult directly with the Commissioner prior to offering employment to the individual.

To the surprise of many in college football, Dan Enos left Central Michigan on Thursday to become the next offensive coordinator at Arkansas. Sources told FootballScoop Enos felt his tenure was unlikely to extend beyond the life of his current contract.

Enos felt athletics director Dave Heeke was supportive of extending him beyond the 2015 season, but Central Michigan president Dr. George E. Ross had rebuffed any talk of an extension.

Not exactly a vote of confidence. Now he was the 3rd lowest paid FBS coach at that time ($386K), and the previous Arkansas OC was making $511K.

who did fulmer hire when he was head coach? he promoted from with in more times than not....in fact every time except the dave clawson deal. i think that will be at least metioned when he and pruitt coverse about next steps.
There's a 90% chance this is a promotion from within. I bet Pruitt/Fulmer won't even discuss Freeze. Pruitt's initial staff was largely made of guys he knew or worked with before.

We aren't an Alabama or Ohio St that is in a position to pluck an assistant from an NFL team or a big name school right now.
