I think Berry will return......

berry will not get injured next year if he returns. how many UT Players that left early in the last few years and got injured in NFL camp and was lost for the year or most of the year. i know of at least 3 players that left early and ended up getting injured in camp.

I heard today both parents were out of jobs and him being the young man he is, he will go and take care of his family.

Yeah smart money is to go and get paid. He will be a 1st rounder and if he is smart (which I think he is) his SB alone would take care of him and his family for life.

This is what Monte said about Berry (I am sure most of you have read this):
"Every day I am around him I am more amazed. We are not talking about a redshirt, 5th-year senior. He is a third-year player in a new system. Every day it's something new and he picks it up so quickly. He will come into the NFL whenever he goes pro and whoever gets him will be fortunate and they will be shocked about how much football he knows.

He is right there with anyone. We haven't had many guys come in and start as a rookie. Eric is really, really smart and he has great instincts. You just tell him one time and he gets it. You have to think every time a guy motions or shifts, it's something new for him because it's a new system. This is the stuff everyone probably knew about him before I got here. But he is something special now."
You have got to believe he is going pro next year.

I am bringing my old thread back to life. Mark my words, ERIC BERRY IS COMING BACK NEXT YEAR!!!!! Just remember I told you so.

I would rather him go to the NFL, make millions and millions of dollars, rep UT well and take care of his family. That's the best outcome for EB

If Manning's family had been in trouble financially he would have left early too

Both of his parents have said they are no in financial trouble. Losing jobs doesn't mean people are suddenly broke (hopefully for most people.) The parents had planned and can still support both children. They do not NEED Eric to turn pro so they can put food on the table. They are still good. Of course the money would be nice, but they also say they don't plan on living off Eric's coin alone. Not everyone quits life when a family member makes bank.

To all that think the Berry family needs Eric to save the day. WAKE the F*** UP!!
Not all Black families are broke! Not every black college player comes from the ghetto. This is a disgrace to an outstanding family to flippantly refer the misknowmer that they need his help financially. Stop spreading your ignorance with your fingertips and broaden your WV.

Just what Im saying, Berry is coming back to Knoxville. He is the most beloved player since Peyton Manning and look at how much love Manning still gets here. Money is no substitute for wearing the orange and white when your name is Eric Berry. I am just mad because i made this post last month and everyone acted like there was no way berry was coming back, when he announces it on Saturday I want everyone on here to eat some CROW

someone might have said this already but on the news last night it said berry has a "saturday suprise" for vols fans. Could this mean he will announce his return on saturday? the way they said it on the news, it doesnt seem like he would announce going pro

any ideas what it could be if it did not invole him going pro or staying?

From the context in which CLK mentioned this, it seems likely that he meant EB would be involved in the game in a way unseen thus far- perhaps on the offense?

As to his future, EB will almost certainly go pro and I think the coaching staff should be trying to encourage him to do so.

Um, I think most people are saying that because both of his parents lost their jobs.

Wow, you're unaware.

Wow, you're unaware.

No, sir it is you who is unaware. His parents have money, and are not poor. They might not be both be working, but smart financial people have retirement funds and back up funds. I know that planning for the future might be hard for you to think about, but losing both jobs doesn't mean they lost everything.

Get your facts straight.

e Berry family has also stuck to the plan and hasn't addressed the future with him during the season, and his father James Berry also stressed this week that any issues at home have been overblown despite his short-term disability and mom Carol's being laid off a year ago.

"By no means are we leaning on Eric and telling him he's got to go and do something to help support us," James Berry said. "We've had a financial plan way before we would have thought about having Eric go out and do other things because we have other kids to raise. Eric's not the only kid we have to raise.

"It's not like we're saying, 'Once Eric gets there then we're just going to lay back and wait for Eric to support us.' By no means are we depending on him to do that. It's great that he has the opportunity in front of him to do well, but living is not hard for us."

Um, I think most people are saying that because both of his parents lost their jobs.

I think this guy is just trying to look smart by injecting race into a discussion where it was never discussed or considered. Somehow, I feel like if EB was white and his parents lost their jobs, we would still be saying he should go pro to help his family.

Why is it selfish for fans to want a kid to comeback his senior year and get a degree?

a degree is easy to get when you're a multi-millionaire. College is always there but life in the NFL is short

I'm not making any assumptions concerning the Berry's financial standing. However, whether the family is white or black, it's not not uncommon to think that they might have trouble financially when both parents lose their jobs. Throwing the racist card out is stupid, it has nothing to do with race.

I said on another thread that all I want is what ever is best for EB and his family, whether that would be going pro or playing another year for the vols.
