I think Berry will return......

A $40 million contract beats a solid education.

There's no reason Berry couldn't finish his degree after going pro.

The main reason anyone goes to college, when it comes down to it, is to make the most money they possibly can. For some, that is by getting a degree, or degrees. For some, it is by playing their way into a higher draft pick, thus guaranteeing more money. Period. Plus he can finish his degree after going pro, like Parys did a couple years ago. As much as I would love to see him play one more year in Knoxville, he won't be back.

If indeed his family needs the security (and what family doesn't need the security of a 40m payday) then I'm glad to let him go.

Hopefully his leaving early will ensure that his little bro has the choice not to when the time comes

Got to take the $$ while you can... no matter how much you love the college experience.

While it would be nice to have him on the field next year... he'll be an ambassador for the program similar to Peyton Manning.

And with the way we are recruiting, its not like we're going to be replacing him with a scrub.

He will be immortalized even if he leaves after this year... not often you get a player break SEC and NCAA records in three seasons. I want him to go pro for two reasons. I don't want to see him end up like Sam Bradford and the Titans may not have the record to get him next year. Going to the Titans would also be quite the knock against bandwagon Steeler fans that are also Vol fans. So I guess there are three reasons I want him to go pro.

Every time I think of Berry retuning next year, I think of when Jason Allen returned for his senior year and had a season ending injury early in the season. Didn't seem to hurt his draft stock though. He was still a first rounder.

I can easily see Berry returning his senior year. When you do something like that it immortalizes you in the eyes of the Vol fans forever, like Peyton Manning. I think that EB loves playing here so much that he wants to come back, he is a rock star here. Fans chant his name and he is a safety. Where else does that happen? I dont hear USC fans chanting Taylor...Mays. Speaking of, Mays came back for his senior season. I only see EB getting better learning under Monte Kiffin and I am praying that he returns.

You do realize there is talk of an NFL lockout or rookie salary cap in 2011, right?

Why should he play another year, lose money and make UT richer?

OK heres my thoughts.......

Eric might not draft as good as he would have say with last years INT's and stats all together.... Dont get me wrong he is the best player on the team..... and probably the best def. player in the SEC..... BUT

He hasnt had the stats everyone has thought he would have......
There's still some games to play though so well see what happens....

I think we should play Berry at Mike this week... and what happens when the have to start throwing the ball....

MY POINT IS THAT.... Berry should come back to get some better stats.... And he needs an SEC CHAMPSIONSHIP ON HIS RESUME!!!!

GO VOLS

Berry's stats are down because teams are game planning to stay away from him. That and he is playing at the LOS a lot more than he did last year. His stock is as high as ever. He doesn't need stats, especially with one of the greatest defensive NFL coaches saying he's one of the best he's ever coached at any level. Here's a stat, how many passes have been completed within playing distance of Berry?

I would love to see EB stay but his draft stock will never be higher. Go make that Money Eric can's wait to see you on Sundays just as long as its not in Dallas.

I think it is selfish to want him for another year, it'd be great if he did. But let's not get our hopes up.

I think it is time to pass the torch on to Janzen Jackson

I would rather him go to the NFL, make millions and millions of dollars, rep UT well and take care of his family. That's the best outcome for EB

If Manning's family had been in trouble financially he would have left early too

agree 100%
