i see 8 wins next year and that's it

8 wins seems to be the consensus... I'll go with that.

It will really be tough if we start 1-2 with loses to GT and UF, which scare me bc of a new QB on the road.

We'll have a senior laden team which is usually good for leadership. But it's hard to win in the SEC with new QB's, unless you're Bama.

As an outsider, I don't know what to think.

Jones has me completely perplexed.

I truly believe that from a talent/experience standpoint, 2016 Vols > 2015 Vols.

However, I think 2015 Vols > 2016 Vols.

And as I have argued numerous times, people can talk about the injuries, but it all started with Appy State.

The 2016 Vols legitimately were clearly better than all but 2 or 3 opponents on the schedule and could have lost 6 or 7 games.

I don't know how you make predictions for the Vols in upcoming seasons. This exercise is always a guessing game, but it's really, really difficult

As long as Butch Jones is still our coach on November 11th, Missouri will beat us. Soundly.

I did, Orange over White. I'm just having a happy new year.

Go Vols!

Okay, as silly as that is, what's the other game? O&W game plus 15 game season if we play in the title game is 16 total games. 16-1 is a total of 17 games....what's the other one?....open scrimmage?🙄😐

The spring game is 2 games, one team wins, one team loses. Duh

Bingo. I've said numerous times that Appy ruined the season. Hell, I think a loss in that game might have been better for us in the long run. That game put a weird funk on the season for sure.

My bad.

Orange wins and White loses. It's 1 game with a win for Orange and a loss for White resulting in a 1-1 record from the O&W game. Then 15-0 the rest of the way resulting in a 16-1 record for a total of 16 games.

Still just having a fun New Year's Day!

Go Vols 2017!

Depends on QB play, since the QB is involved in every single snap...

On D, having an DT rotation that is not made up of DEs, better technique by DBs .....and not as many injuries?

Well since the game is played on the field and not on paper I'll wait 'til Sept to decide. Gotta a lot of practice updates and whatnots to read between now and then for me to really have any idea.

The sad part is, UT's administration may be okay with 8-win seasons. That is scary to think about.

There is not a doubt in my mind that this is a correct statement. But I really put the major donors in the same pot.

Based on talent we should have an 8-4 regular season. However, given CBJs tendency to lose a game he shouldn't I'm thinking 7-5.

Losses to Florida, Georgia, Alabama, LSU and one of GA Tech or Kentucky (next years head scratcher). I think he actually beats 'chump next year just through law of averages.

Tennessee's 2017 football schedule:

September

4: Georgia Tech (Atlanta)

9: Indiana State

16: at Florida

23: UMass

30: Georgia

October

14: South Carolina

21: at Alabama

28: at Kentucky

November

4: Southern Miss

11: at Missouri

18: LSU

25: Vanderbilt Anybody else feel like they can't win the east next year besides me? Curious...

I agree our recruiting is just average yet again this year. You have teams like Uga won't lose when they contintend to recruit way they do.even with him not being a g reattach head coach. Uf is a toss up and lsu and Bama are ugly .....

No idea what to expect at QB. I don't see how people can make predictions at this point. Why do we beat Vandy next year? Said it before I wouldn't bet with someone else's money on the GT game. Hope we make the needed changes and whoever is slinging the ball is doing it lights out but way too many questions at this point to predict much of anything.

Way too much unknown to make an accurate prediction. It's all just an uneducated guess at this point.

Teams often prepare harder for tougher opening day opponent. App. state was a trap game. That was a funky game with senior Sutton fumbling punt and giving App. early lead. It was nasty from that point on. I like Shoop having months to prepare for Tech. Much rather play them first than later.

Essentially 2 weeks to get ready for Gators on road.

2 weeks to prepare for Georgia at home. Watch out for UMass, they gave several SEC teams a tough time.

Open date 2 weeks to get ready for Gamecocks at home.

Anyway this schedule is spaced much better than 2016. Key is getting by Tech in good health and focussing on week to week improvement. There is room for a new qb to grow into the season.

Shoop may be heard from with the Magic Show defense if he gets any reasonable break on injuries with Team 121. Every season there are guys that step up and become stars - Bituli, Darrell Taylor, Kongbo, Byrd, Calloway? If I had to pick a reason for concern it would be defensive line depth but there is no reason to throw Team 121 under the bus before the bus leaves the parking lot. That schedule is set up pretty well - as good as it can for SEC anyway.

Everyone should place your smart money, if you have any, on daj's analytics for next season.

We have as much potential as anybody in the East next year. Fortune swings both ways, we were supposed to knock it out of the park this year. Next year should be a rebuild year. But who knows, our luck can change and we dominate the east. Maybe some unrealized talent shows up on the field for us.
