it seems the read option causes Hurd to start slow. if he were in the I formation, he could go full speed when he gets the ball and run down hill. he has to almost stop, get the ball and then start running again. if he tries to go outside it's even harder.
Exactly, everything happens so slow with this offense. Seems like the coaches would at least try to let him get the ball at speed. Defenses would get tired of having to tackle him coming down hill.
